in light of the changes, let's hope mclaren isn't frightened to change the way England have been playing either.

i'm still mystified by what happened with svennis
when he started our tactics looked excellent and he made us a lot less flaky, he is the manager who saw us destroy germany 5-1 away and outplay argentina, i haven't been keeping such a close track over the last few years but he was one of the most respected managers in the game with his track record
but our tactics in germany were abysmal. we had a great generation of players at the right age, and a draw that meant we didn't have to face a decent team till the semis and we fucked it up

I have to agree with ninjaboy, if anyone should be dropped it should be lampard and let becks take his spot. In fact when beckham is in midfield he looks quite good. Some will talk about the NI game but becks was the only player who was looking to distribute in vulnerable areas.

Lampard an gerrard will never play well together while i have a hole in my ass , I think Mclaren has dropped his fist clanger already , gerrard should be captain , Gerrad as captain for Liverpool is one of if not the greatest midfielder in the world . If there is a chance that by making him captain he will reproduce his Liverpool form for england then thats what should be done . terry is a ok player but not in the same class as gerrard .

Re. Crouch, I think it's a prime case of picked according to what club you play for; helps get Southampton relegated and he's nowhere near England, ups sticks to Merseyside and suddenly he's first choice behind Owen and Rooney. I can well see it happening with Carrick too, although he warranted a place in the first XI when at Spurs.
I'd like to see us try a 4-3-3 as a lot of countries use, similar to below (with all available);
