England refuse to play in Madrid because of racist abuse

rather be a paki then a jew surely?

never heard it as turk.

I heard that chant in a Town Centre pub in Swindon back when England needed a draw to qualify for some tournement and Beckham missed a penalty. I think it was shortly after those Leeds fans were stabbed, there was and probably still is a fair amount of aggro between the two sets of fans.

Oh yeah i know there is lots of beef with the turks. Just wondering why paki was brought into things.

it actually made sense with the west ham spurs one.(they call our stadium upton paki)

Where would they move the game to? Almost all teams in Spain have a voiceferous fascist element in their support bar the Basque teams and Gallegos. The rest are far but few with only sime notable exceptions such as Sevilla and Cadiz.

Just to show how despised and hated the targets of the chants are innit. I.e. "we all know pakis are scum, but we would actually rather be them than be you turks/jews/whatever".

The "pakis" are the ones who are being vilified the most, when you think of it.

And of course it makes the chant not just racist but double-racist by abusing two ethnicities at once.

A lot more imaginatve than making monkey chants, so hats off... ;)

Whether "we're" hypocrites or not, it's a good step forward.

Just heard that Ath Madrid v LFC has to be played 300 miles from Madrid too.

That's not all down to the fans though...the police approach was at best, farcical. And Atleti, unlike other clubs haven't done too much to kick out the thug element.

ha no! but to suggest that those actions arent extreme examples of racism is a bit silly ...... just because they are actions of a few they shouldnt be nonchalantly shrugged off...which is what he seems to be doing...... "I don't know if racism is the word. I wasn't in the team when that match was played but Ashley Cole was playing for England and he felt a little upset."

No he isn't, it's a proven fact.
Oh yeah? Can I see any of that evidence? On both claims about ''originating from Spain'' (did the world start in 2004 perchance?), and counting for "99% of all incidents".

I really hope we don't have descend to tit-for-tat posting of links to racist incident stories to prove the immense absurdity of such claims.
