Wasn't it Ghandi who said he would not oppose Ghurkas travelling across India as long as Britain was offering better opportunities than they had at home? These days it seems to be more emmigration opportunities than financial.

Northern Ireland. Your boys went in hard and strong. They kicked over peoples sideboards. They planted anonymous bombs and blamed it on the provos. They leaked the information about republican figures to the UVF so that they could be murdered by them. They killed innocent men who were just working on a farm. They shot a prominent lawyer in front of his family at the dinner table through UVF proxies. They set up shady edge units and employed the most savage elements of the british military on a civilian population. Diplock trials and long fucking kesh. Turning a blind eye while catholic civilians were abducted and tortured to death in belfast. Don't even try for the moral highground.

I think creating a British backed Kurdish state based around Istanbul could only be described as an act of bizarrely evil imperialism. Thankfully, it never happened.
