Emergency Vegan HELP!

TBH I'd just consider it good manners to cook a guest something they would enjoy eating. Vegan or not.

^this^

Surely if you invite someone round for food you want them to at the very least be able to eat it, and i'd assume you'd want them to enjoy it

Glad the meal went well, I never did the whole lentils and cheese thang (and now I'm a carrot munching freak so it's too late :D), it sounds a bit odd to me:hmm:

Just do the twat a nice chunky Bacon sarnie with local ingredients and point out that you don't do faddy planet raping nosh (Soya Milk........how many polar bears have to die for that?).

if you could get vegiterian bacon then i might just consider switching to the dark side*

*also requires vegitarian steak, chicken and other meat type produce

Probably too late now, but potato curry is piss-easy to make, completely vegan (as long as you use sunflower/veg/corn oil rather than butter/ghee), very tasty, and also extremely cheap - you can bung in some chickpeas or lentils or various other vegetables whatever takes your fancy really.

Ratatouille is also a good standby, I'm not a huge fan myself but the other half loves it so I make it frequently (the upside IMO is that any leftovers actually make a great base for a vegetable curry!)

Doubt it. Fucking yoghurt knitter probably doesn't have the strength to lift a pan. Vegans... fuck off!
Jesus wept, it's a dietary choice and not anyone elses business. Is there really nothing better to get worked up over? :hmm:

Oi Athos, read the posting rules for suburban, whether it's a poor joke or serious, I don't like it

Cook pasta, get some good olive oil, a bit of chilli, chopped parsley or some other nice herbage and some finely minced, squoozed or smashed garlic and mix. Delish.

What about protein?> There should be cannelini or borlotti beans in the above, and some broccoli. Man cannot live upon refine carbs alone.

Bruschetta, done well, gets omnivores and vegetablists 'umm umming' in joy.

You need good crusty bagette or a ciabatta.
Toms, lots of.
Garlic
Fresh Basil
Balsamic vinegar
Olive oil
Salt
Pepper

Really quick to make too.

You don't need protein in every meal!
every meal should be balanced so ideally there should be some

besides, vegans are proteinally challenged as it is... you wouldnt cook just steak for if you were cooking a meal for meat eaters would you.

For a one off, if I wasn't even that sure about what to balance with what, I'd just take a stab and make something tasty. Although just brushetta on its own is a bit of a lacking meal - put some tomato/mushroom/pasta dish down there as well and that's a treat.

Eat a packet of peanuts as a starter if you want protein :D

this is really nice (for future vegan emergencies) I;ve just made it

put a pinch of saffron in 3 tables spoons hot water

fry a leek in oil five mins then cast aside for a bit

fry a chopped onion in same pan for a bit

add four cloves garlic chopped, pinch salt, 3 table spoons ground cumin and swish around - add a little bit of the saffron water and cook for 4 mins or so

add chopped carrots for a few mins then add chopped courgette

add tin toms - break up on entry, a tin of chickpeas (i only had butter beans tonight or add some you cook up yourself) the saffron and water and a bit of veg stock and a sprinkle of chilli powder and handful or more of dried fruit - rasins or apricots

simmer for 10 mins

in the meantime make cous cous

when veg is soft add the leek

serve with cous cous and chopped parsley

Its lovely and vegan (Nadine Abensur receipe)
