Eli 'paperboy' Reed

that was v good. really glad i went.

it's a small venue with the stage the same level as the floor, so i was about 2 inches from mister Reed all evening - quirky lil man, who belted out songs and screamed the place down for nearly 2 hours  the songs seemed to be all his, with not one cover (which pleased me). his voice reminds me most of Wilson Picket's over everyone else, if i have to compare at all.

my friend who dj'd was chuffed to bits cos after the gig, when the people had gone, Eli was wetting himself over the contents of his record box. oh and my mate pulled the trumpet player... :D

so yeh, i'd recommend.

i thought he was stunning when he sang this one

why do you say that? not having a go, i'm interested.

were you at The Soul Tree, Cambridge gig btw?

Nope, Hoxton Bar & Grill last night.
Audience even worse than you'd expect (apart from Morrisey and one half of Gilbert & George)
Place was oversold (so much that a mate complained about it and got her money back!)

Although peeps argue that there's nothing new in music, a lot of young bands steal influences from all over the place and meld them together. Unfortunately this lot didn't. It was strightforward '60 soul with pretty much all his own material being blatant and not so blatant rips of older songs (bit like Oasis really iyswim).
