Elf

I fucking hate Ferrell almost as much as I hate that other cunt in his milieu, Adam Sandler. I utterly refute them and all their works. My little sister got me Anchorman for Xmas a couple of years ago, and I waited the WHOLE FILM to LAUGH JUST ONCE...not a fucking hope in hell.

I'd sooner get throat cancer and become Leary's tracheotomy man than sit through anything this utter waste of DNA is involved with.

Stick around in a newsroom long enough and you can be all three. :(
Actually i never really got DtDD.
Newsrooms can be funny, but not in that way.

Mostly newsrooms are only funny in the North, in my experience - don't ask me why this is, but I've never been in a funny newsroom south of Bristol.
And you need older hacks, with less to lose - ideally with a nearby bar.
An atmosphere of scandal also assists. Young people int he media are not, on the whole, very scandalous these days, which is a shame.

Things can get quite profane, and yes that's very very funny.
Some hacks are brilliant raconteurs and that's what helped me feel I wanted to stay in the business even in the bad times.
But on the whole people don't sit about getting off sharp one liners.
*Illusions shattered!*
Although I once went to a BBC christmas party abroad. Too much food and not enough booze or snogging. :) Lots and lots of old grey men and their wives. The soundmen were funny though!

The only bit I like in Anchorman is when they sing that song in his office all in harmonies. It's lovely!

And I'm sure someone says they want to punch a woman right in the womb. Or something. It was funny anyway.

Okay, so two funny bits.

I thought it was a bit arse. Is the ending weepy? Does he get the girl and be accepted by his dad?

I much prefer Dudley Moore's Santa Claus and Tim Whatsit in The Santa Claus to wrap presents to.

I don't like Ferrell ( zoolander and baldes of glory are probably the only 2 I films I like him in ) so Elf is a bit of a letdown for me , I think I'd quite like it if they had someone else as the elf maybe but I can't think who would be good

And the best christmas film is clearly Gremlins

Anchorman was a movie i really expected to hate, and it was fabulous..

it was unexpectedly entertaining....

I still giggle when I think of the "question mark/autocue" gag.

:)

One of those movies that's far better than it has any right to be. It *should* be unmitigated shite, but somehow ends up being quite enjoyable.

Third favorite xmas film after Bad Santa and The Ref (aka: Hostile Hostages).
