Elbow

Honestly, the only other album I own which got me so emotional the first time I heard it was Tori Amos 'Little Earthquakes' - I actually cried through most of that! :o

i just listened to the seldom seen kid (first cd ive bought in aggeess) and came on here hoping to see a thread (if i wasn't i would have started one!). such a great band. 4 great albums. not many bands get better with every album these days.
under rated. i hope this album gets the success it deserves.

I only just bought it myself, I don't really buy that many cds these days.

When I got to the 4th listen of it, it clicked - amazing album. Listening to Cast of Thousands now, for a break :D

Not sure Leaders of the free world is as good as the others though - I ordered it at the same time as seldom kid, but only listened to it once. Need to listen again me thinks.

p.s. has anyone seen the video on You Tube for ? :) That guy is so so happy, it's so simple and so effective, brought a little tear to my eye.

pps. Weather to Fly, at first I thought it was Annie Lennox doing the vocals at the start! :o (amazing song)

They're 'hmmmm'. Try to hard to be northern or something.

 They are northern.

I have a tenuous connection to them, a friend's friend ;) knows them from a grotty bar in Manchester (The Temple, my friend says, I've never been there), and whenever he goes for a drink with them he sends me a text to let me know, as he knows I love Elbow :D

I seen them in the Northern Quarter the other night - were in the smoking area of a bar me and some friends were in. They were acting a bit charlie big potatoe for me - talking loudly about "touring the States with REM" - so I didn't bother striking up a conversation.

Wouldn't normally be seen dead in the Northern Quarter - it's Manchester's Nathan Barleyland; geek pies, meedja glasses, deejays etc - but it wasn't my choice.
