What an incredible band they are.
I've been listening to the new album "The Seldom Seen Kid" all day and it baffles me how over looked this band are. Every album they make is brilliant.

They never seem to get the recognition they deserve, instead people like Mika,The Kooks, Mark Ronson and Kate Nash are seen as musical genius's...

Guy Garvey and co, I salute you!

I love them. They are Gods. And playing Latitude...huzzah!:)

I had a conversation with the drummer once in a club in Didsbury. I thought he was Badly Drawn Boy .. well he looked exactly like him .. same hat and everything.
I actually asked him if he liked Elbow because they had a song I really liked and he said he thought they were top and laughed.
Then I met Badly Drawn Boy the next day in a pub in Chorlton and I thought he looked different .. then the drummer came in and said hello and Badly Drawn Boy told me he was the drummer from Elbow.
Fuckin hell I said. I forget the name of the song but it was great whatever it was imo
Namedropper

Never heard much by them but I like their new album, without being blown away by it.

Bought new album after having got 'Grounds for Divorce' stuck in my head after hearing it on 6music. It arrived today and am playing it now. For the fourth time. If this is their weakest album, their entire back catalogue will be in my Amazon shopping basket pronto.

A band who's name I knew but I never knew 'em. IYSWIM.

I *love* Guy's voice. Shades of Peter Gabriel, beautiful storytelling lyrics. Would really like to see them live. :)

Their new album's definitely growing on me. I love the bonkers big stabbed chord on the first song. It's a fantastic tune.

You can hear a growing Talk Talk influence too.

Bit before my time, but bf reckons his voice is very like blokie from Blue Nile.

First band I've listened to for ages where I get a lump in my throat :D

The new album really is something else, their best yet IMO.

I can't wait for them at Latitude, they have the kind of songs that deserve to be played to a large crowd on a beautiful summer's evening.

i just listened to the seldom seen kid (first cd ive bought in aggeess) and came on here hoping to see a thread (if i wasn't i would have started one!). such a great band. 4 great albums. not many bands get better with every album these days.
under rated. i hope this album gets the success it deserves.

Hmm, maybe. Much richer voice than that Blue Nile fella. And not a jocko too, which is a bonus. :p
Much as I'm loving their new album, it doesn't come close to the cold-night-walking-home-alone-in the rain melancholia of the magnificent Blue Nile's first two albums.

Ooh, I dunnno and I'm speaking as a big fan of both :)

Something about "Then I'm spinning and I'm diving like a cloud of starlings" that just sends shivers down my spine. And so many other bits.

<sigh>

A Walk Across the Rooftops is one of my favourite albums ever mind. Bliss.

I've decided to give them a go as I keep hearing they're overlooked, so I'm just spinning the new album at the mo...

Bit of a shock if you're listening with headphones though...

Never really listened to Elbow before, but am really liking the new one...

:D

Anywhere specific?

Do you have a bittorrent client like Azureus or uTorrent installed?

If so, then you can get it here. (or here at a slightly lower bit rate/smaller file)

If not, download uTorrent first, then download it from the first link.

Oh and also, I can never remember if I am supposed to link to this sort of stuff or not, so sorry Ed and co. if I am not!

:hmm:

You, MrSwarf, are my favourite man tonight! Ty

(I have BitComet)

yay! enjoy!

See my previous posts though and be warned: I think it is their slowest-burner so far. Took me a good 5 or 6 goes to really feel it, though I am now glad I now made the effort.

It's a great album, and there's a definite Talk Talk influence there -- I think they've spent a lot of time listening to Spirit of Eden...

Man, that new album is certainly a BIG grower!

I can't stop playing it at the moment. Starlings is absolutely beautiful.
