Eek - a rat!

The trap you want is called Fenn Mk 4. You need to set it in a tunnel (you can make one out of wood or summat), so your cats don't get got.

Seriously, rats are disease ridden aggressive fuckers, don't bugger about with live-catch hippy bollocks.

When you take the rat out of the trap, wear latex gloves. You can buy em from ag. merchants or nick a load from petrol stations.

I think it must be mice, not rats. And I've come to the conclusion that they must be coming in from outside (probably the cats bringing them in and letting them go to play with) because there are no signs of them anywhere - no droppings or anything.

There are rats in the roof space again. I heard them above our bedroom last night. Mother fucker.

Got a bottle of strychnine with those fuckers names on it, though.

The cheap all-plastic ones are very effective, but don't kill them quickly enough. With most of the dozen or so mice I caught last winter I set the traps while I was home so I could finish them off quickly by squeezing the trap or bashing them with a brick. :(

I had a distressing experience with one of these jobs. My mum had mice in the attic bedroom so, being a dutiful son, I came home for the weekend to sort them out. Went to get 'proper' little nipper stylee mousetraps from B&Q, only to find that they had sold out but they did have 'E-Z Set' (Ha! Should have known. Nothing good will come of anything called E-Z anything) traps similar to the one above.
Got traps, went to pub, came back from pub, set traps, went to bed. Woke up. Went to find traps and found one had gone off but had nothing in it, and the other one had vanished. Searched for trap. Searched and searched for trap. Scratched head. Lifted up valance (think it is called a valance, the curtain around the bottom of your bed) to find mouse running in circles, completely unharmed but with a said trap clamped firmly on its head. Had to drown the fucker in the end.
Trust me, you are much better off with your traditional mouse/rat trap

Finally caught Darwin's mouse by setting more than one trap.

They can't resist PNB and yeast extract.

Well, the remaining mouse was finally despatched yesterday by one of the cats - not before the other one had carried it upstairs to the bathroom in her mouth, then managed to lose it and let it escape into the spare room.

My neighbour has just told me that they've got rats again and as she has paid for the rat man to come out 3 times she's not doing it again.

They live under her sodding pond! I suggested that she might like to think about getting rid of it. :(

I want to move house now.

*cries*

Has someone done a double-blind test ?

I especially like:-

"Setting 3 - Electromagnetic function - uses the electrical cabels in the bullding to transmit a signal"

Shades of copper rheumatism bracelets methinks ...

Works for me and a lot less hassle than setting traps. But you stick to your traps if that's your thing.

and in any case, it's revolting when I have to dispose of the dead rat. :(
Even worse when they're dear little mice, but it has to be done.

At least they hadn't chewed my new tent.
They had my favourite shirt last winter.

They make good compost though.

I have this trap for dispatching easy to dig to rats:

However, for when you aint got time to call in the terriers (or your rats are under a bloody pond!), I'll say it again: Fenn Mk4. :p

My little lurcher proudly presented me with a rats tail with a hind leg still attached this morning :hmm:. I'm assuming a cat had already done the damage, I can do without half digested rat being vomited on the rug
