A sector of the society dogmatically assumes that education is a panacea and only solution for the evils on earth such as disease, poverty, violence, famine and so on and so forth. Basic education is vital for human existence. Education only promotes information and knowledge for sustainability of life on earth. There are many other facets of life, and environmental factors that are vital for sustainability of life on earth. There are many countries and societies where education and literacy are prime achievements; however, whose living standards and economies are mediocre. Resources, practices, attitudes, cultures, values, behaviour, enterprise, and the systems like, that drive the conditions and wheels of industrialisation, economic growth, health and wellbeing, and sustainability. Education and knowledge are only a vital part of the sustainability and progress, and not the prime mover of the society.

Met custody sergeant faces possible dismissal over 2013 strip search of academic
I am not concerned about the possible dismissal of the police sergeant. It is a terrible case, the entity education has got involved with. I am insinuating several things in here. One is, an educated act has got in to terrible mess in this case, and also the brutality involved in the incident. Knowledge is cited as power. However, as manifested in this case, and numerous other cases, which is the reality of society, power has to be used or wielded with responsibility and cautiously. The expression ipsa scientia potestas est - knowledge itself is power, does not hold true in every situation, and may not be interpreted literally. Learning is a synonym for education, however the two words are used in different expressions appropriately. The words ‘education’ and ‘learning’ are not always interchangeable. We learn from life experiences of self, and others, which is part of the process of education. What we learn from this case may not be savoury, that’s education for ya.
