edmonton vs south norwood

:D Us Upper Norwood lot look down on all of 'em, both West and South. :p

True - and those who are north, as well (although I know there is a dispute over which is the highest street - I believe it to be Crystal Palace because I am a Sahf Londoner. Innit!)

In it weird how south norwood is about 3 miles from west norwood & upper norwood dont actually exist. its called crystal palace.

The area from up near Crown Point all the way to All Saints church (the corner of Beulah Hill and Church Road) is the REAL Upper Norwood.

It links South Norwood to West Norwood and Crystal Palace

I'm really, really tempted by some of the houses we've seen in South Norwood. The old decision between ok house, shorter commute and amazing house, longer commute.

In zone 3 we can afford a 2 bed ex-local, in South Norwood we can afford a whole god damn Victorian terraced house with 2 bedrooms, lounge, dining room, eat-in kitchen, garden, upstairs and a downstairs and no service charge.

That makes it seem like a no-brainer... but... but...

And actually, South Norwood seemed nice enough, quite smart even.

Lived in South Norwood for 9 months. Good local shops but thought the "country park" was a bit rubbish tbh. But at least there's a bit of a park there. Village type green area is quite salubrious. Norwood Jcn train station is good for getting into London. But it did feel weirdly cut off from everywhere, especially at night. The bit I lived in didn't have a night bus and was a 25 minute walk from East Croydon. The last "day" bus, the 197 iirc, left E Croydon at 12.45am and after that it was taxi or walk as the trams finished around then too. Arena tram station was a bit too deserted and not at all friendly at night as well. Edmonton always seemed to be absolutely horrible when I went through it. So of the two, I'd go for the SE25 option.

you should have a wander through heavers meadow musty if you like the outdoors stuff - its not brilliant but somewhere else with possible interest if youre interested in that kind of thing

Is that the place near Selhurst station? I didn't realise it was worth exploring, if so! I might give it a go over the weekend, if the weather is okay.

thanks again for all the interesting and informative replies..the person i posted this thread seeking info for ended up finding a place in south wimbeldon(quite by chance) in the end...he thinks it will be a good change after years of living in woowich:D

ive got no immmediate plans to move myself but i'd certainly consider south norwood way ahead of edmonton if it ever comes to that;)

Edmonton is one of the most depressing places I've ever had to encounter. I worked there for six months and it's miserable. You've got the incinerator, the North Circ carving six lanes of traffic through the middle of the town and a high street full of cheap offies and loan shark shops offering cash till payday.

I got out as fast as my little legs would carry me!
