Don't know - but it says update to version 7 in top right hand corner.Derian said:Which version of adobe do you have?
I have adobe reader though...but presumably need an extra module in order to edit.BootyLove said:*cough*
Download Acrobat from some P2P, you can't edit with the viewer/reader. I'm sure someone will be along in a minute with a third party editor. If the file is protected you won't be able (without much difficulty) to edit it.
You could also try opening it in Adobe illustrator if you have it..

Derian said:OK. Open the document.
On the toolbar ... Document -> Security -> Display Restrictions and Security.
That brings up another box.
In the Documents Restrictions Summary - does it allow you to do anything and if so, what/conditions?
sojourner said:Okay:

This possibly means that it was originally created in an earlier version of writer.
OK, now go to the box above for security method and click 'change settings'. If the original creator has password protected it that will bring up a 'permissions password' prompt.
Enter the password and change the settings to 'no security'. You will then be able to edit the document.
If you don't know the password, contact the originator to get it (I'm assuming here that this is a document that you are emailing between each other in draft form for changes etc).
sojourner said:There's a Document Security bit at the top of that box, although I had to access this and the summary by going to File and Document Properties, rather than the dropdown from Document.![]()
In the Document Security part, it says Security Method: No Security, and 'can be opened by all versions of acrobat'. The box saying Show Details is grey though and won't let me open it.
If it says No Security - how the blinkin eck do I edit it?

sojourner said:It doesn't let me do anything other than read the details - I can't change them![]()
The document is actually a company letterhead sent to me as a proof from our printer yonks ago, but we have now got a spangly new printer in work which we should be able to use for this type of stuff and thereby save £. We own the copyright so no probs there. I can't get hold of the guy who sent the proof to ask him![]()
Derian said:Ahhhhh.
How about you email it to me and I'll try and do it? I'll PM you my email address ...

then I could do it properly.I don't have the font but I can't tell, does this document have some kind of change protection or not? Cause if that is the problem I can crack it.Derian said:they'd made it a read-only font so I couldn't copy/edit in the same font.

And not only that, but I had to change the driver on my printer to postscript to get the right colour, but now that I've got the right colour, the farking font at the top of the page goes all stupid and looks like it's made of sticksDerian said:I found a way around the editing - but then didn't have the font. Dennisr sent me the font, but I think I need to convert it from OTF to Type 2 and don't have the means to do that (unless I upgrade an evaulation programme that I have).
The originator seems to have used Optima & something else (seemingly Type 2 multi byte), and protected it as a read-only font.
!! Have you tried it?BootyLove said:
