"I think that understanding the history of how these countries came into existence and the origins of these conflicts is a good place to start. After all, if you don't understand what it's about, how can anyone come up with solutions?" post 480 ..

How you can read that and get that I think it's up to you to find a solution, fuck knows!

That isn't what Blagsta said though - is it? Quite honestly I don't know how you managed to extrapolate what you did from those couple of sentences.

it seems to me you suggested that for anyone to find solutions they should learn history .. i agree .. and count myself as an 'anyone'! :D so quite simply that it is up to all of us .. me you nino whoever .. but my point is that we are best suited to finding solutions here .. not finding solutions for the middle east .. can we agree on that?

p.s. was it cold last night? ;) you should do an update if you went .. would be interesting .. was indoors myself with er a cold :(

It isn't up to you and me though is it? Well, I don't live in Lebanon anyway and I suspect you don't either. Tbf, I'm gonna listen to dum dum's opinion the most, he actually knows what he's talking about on this!

that was my point too? we must have got our wires crossed! we appear to be agreeing!

do a report! :D ( started new thread on protest)

So how does that work? How can you find local solutions to a problem caused by the Crusades and made worse by Sykes-Picot? How do you find a "local" solution to a problem that was caused by British betrayal of the people's of a region (which isn't just a short bus ride away from where you live) that is several thousands of miles away?

You're not making any sense.

It makes no sense to me. I could understand the 'local solution' thing if this thread was about the dire lack of youth clubs in various boroughs across Britain.

No one's suggesting the be all and end all of leftist's work in the UK should be international, far from it. All I and others are saying, I think, is that international issues arise, and people have an interest in them that ranges from not wanting young lads being sent to die or sheer empathy with people who are about to be bombed, and any w/c activist worth their salt will have to say what they think in those circumstances. And, 'it's nothing to do with me' is simply pitiful as a response

spion i mostly agree with you :) .. it is that the balence is out .. look at the british left and the ampount of work they put ( and have done for many years now) into unproductive so called 'internationalism' as opposed to what imho would be more productive local work, is disproportionate

so and i wish to see it swung firmly towards more local activity ..

fyi i was on the big iraq marches and left work on the walk out day ..

:)
