Just to set my self in front of the guns - surely this particular forum is about discussing that very thing?

Not when it comes in the shape of a thread accusing me of "completely losing the plot".

I'm fucking fed up with the same tiny handful of conspiracy obsessed posters disrupting this community and/or insulting me.

Over the years, I've been accused of being in the employ of the security services, a government stooge, a tool of the government, an evil censor, a dictator and now I'm supposedly "losing the plot".

These boards weren't set up as a comfy home for conspiracy fans to endlessly post up the same evidence-free drivel. Over the years, they've had ample opportunity to state their case and produce their 'evidence' with no censorship.

Despite continually repeat the same thing again and again, barely a soul here has expressed the slightest interest in their wild, unsubstantiated claims, a fact neither DrJ or bigfish seems unable to address.

So why do you think the vast, vast majority of posters here aren't interested in your endlessly repeated conspiracy claims, DrJ and bigfish?

Because there are thousands of special sites set up for this kind of thing. I love a conspiracy I do. Especially Diana and MI6.
But if this site became swamped with lots of discussion about that and others it would ruin things.It would.

There's nothing wrong with questioning the official version of events, but when some people believe any old crap, especially when a lot of it is straight out of a novel by Robert Anton Wilson, then I start to worry a bit. I agree that the title and intent of the thread was unecessarily provocative and that it must grate when some posters insist that you defend their right to talk a right load of bollo. However Rorymac simply made the point that the conspiracy theorists wouldn't start such threads if their wasn't a pack of bullying minded types that seem to persue them for sport. A similar thing occurs with posters who express religious views. There does seem to be an unofficial Urban75 Muttawah who police thread content knowing that they can be as unpleasant as they like providing they attack the right people.

However this thread has started out onthe wrong foot. And experience has shown that once that has happened any legit point gets drowned in a lot of crap. And starting a seperate thread only makes it worse.

No worries. You're doing a fine job there Mr Editor - but stuff like this is bound to come up and we are just as bound to want to discuss it. It's no big deal.

one of the relpies on the thread was from CaroleK and was a cut n paste epic rant about the dangers of vacinations with a link to a conspiracy theory website

I'm sure she meant well but I sort of resented it.

maybe I'm just being over sensitive but I would like an occasional opportunity to wallow in a bit of self pity without having to wade through lots of conspiracy theory stuff when what I wanted was some attention godammit!

perhaps my illness has been caused by vaccinations? I don't know, but having read some of CaroleK's posts on 9/11 I just thought 'oh no' I'm not even going to read this.
