Edinburgh Festival

Isn't it just :) - Did you find it really moving? I did and I'm one of those people who steadfastly refuses to be emotional about theatre*

*I'd like to pretend I was anyway!:D

First I cried 'cause their skills were so inspiring, then I laughed and cried some more because the story was so moving, then I cried again because the two became inseparable and that's what makes art.

I am very emotional about theater that renders me emotional.

I cried bucketloads:o Weren't the girls on stage beautiful? Really mesmerising. Wish i was still in Edinburgh-so going to move there:cool:

Is this finished then? I hope so.

Only good thing about the festival is the extended opening hourse, but even then you have to share the pub with a bunch of cunts.

:cool::cool::cool:

I'll write more about this and the other stuff I saw today when I have time tomorrow...but, yes, it was quite a remarkable thing.

Have you seen their work before, quimcunx?

Glad you think so. :)

I've seen a few bits and pieces here and there, but the main thing was at the Theatre museum here in London a few years back.

It was two shows. His wooden kinetics then his metal kinetics. The first accompanied by the saddest Russian music in the world, the second by more of a mixture. Funny and sad and dark and meloncholy and happy too. If you ever read the website it's all ''This is for blahdeblah who made it to Scotland, but too late'', and, ''Thanks to Jimmy for the sheeps heads, cancer got 'im''. Incredibly beautiful, all of it.

I went 3 times. :o

I read the website and quite a bit that was posted at the venue.

Some things hit me quite personally as well - there is a Jewish song in this one that I used to sing all the time. I bought a postcard and sent it to my parents - they would love his work.

So much about it is fascinating - including calling into question what constitutes a performance.

And just...what an engaged and astonishing artist this guy is (and his cohorts who support and collaborate with him)!
