It's recommended you only use the neck pick-up, so could be worth a try.

I used to use an Ebow in my last band, I use to use the neck pickup and some delay, but as my guitar doesn't have a tone control, I would use a wah wah pedal to limit the high end. Its quite conrtrollable once you get used to it
