Ear piercing

Ah right, sound. I had visions of them stretching a standard piercing up to 4mm immediately...yowch!

Just read on another forum about a lad stretching to 12mm in 6 weeks...if my earlobes had legs, they'd be crossed in sympathy!

Get some on the other side to even yourself out then :D

Meh, I dunno if I like the right ear pierced or not! :D

I was thinking of a scaffold, but apparently they're a bastard to heal, as anytime you nudge one, they both get moved? Could be a problem with the crash helmet.

Otherwise, it's another lobe, a tragus (or anti-tragus? :hmm: ), conch and maybe another cartilage one. Choices, choices... :D

Yeah, they can be a bugger. You can get seperate bars in them, but there's a chance that one might migrate slightly and don't line up properly when you try to put the longer bar in. You'd have to be careful with any cartilage piercing with the helmet...not just if you knock it, but it can get quite sweaty under there as well...not ideal for healing, tho once they are healed (12-18 months! ) they should be fine. I'd say go for a tragus, but then i'm biased...i love my tragus piercings :D

I think a tragus is highly likely. Although I've been put off so far because I use ear-bud headphones all day. I suppose I can live with one for a few weeks.

Actually, how long do they take to heal, roughly?

Tragus can take 3-6 months, longer if you don't look after it properly, or bang it a lot. If you have a labret bar put in you shouldn't have any trouble with your headphones...it's the only way that i can keep mine in...they were always falling out before i got pierced! :D

Sweet, sounds like a plan.

Tbh, this time around, I've been pretty religious about cleaning them, and so haven't had any problems (funny that, eh?).

Yes, yes it is :D

I can't understand people who either pierce themselves with a 'sterilised' (boiled or burnt ) needle, or don't look after ones that they've paid good money for, then complain when it rejects or gets infected. Sometimes it's down to the piercer underestimating how much it'll swell so the jewellery's too small, but most often it's down to aftercare. Same with tattoos.

The guy I've used seems to be really good and really careful about things like healing times and so on. I'm happy, so I'll stick with him.

Aftercare wise... last time I had piercings, I was just a silly kid. I never looked after them, fiddled around with them before they were ready and ended up taking them out in the end, cos they were painful or never healed quite right. You live and learn. ;)

I had mine pierced when I was 10 with a gun in a department store. I've had other piercings since (needles) which are all fine but for the last ten years my ears can't tolerate any jewellery. I've tried various metals, plastic even coating the jewellery in clear nail varnish but my lobes get hot and itchy.

I recommend getting them done. Barely hurts, not hard to look after and barely visible holes.
