Dwain Chambers Selected for GB

Man's got a really bad attitude. He bullies it on track and now he's got a lawyer bullying it for him off track too. And if people think he's off drugs, just look at his musculature. He's not off drugs, he's just after quick bucks.

he'll only get quick bucks on the circuit, and it looks like no one wants to invite him to the races - he made an attempt at american football as well, was signed for a european franchise, which then folded - seems like he only knows sport and doesn't have any alternative career options - he took a big gamble taking drugs, he's paying the price

Chambers is seen to be more than willing to go the legal route to gain his own way, the problem arises if the action are seen to be against his Human Rights under the European legislation. But, that would not be a quick route and would jeopardise any efforts to return to the sport.

The growing feeling that he should step aside and allow the younger atheletes to participate in the forthcoming UK team events.

As long as no one weakens with the statement of not inviting him, all will be well.

according to the guardian today - he still owes £100,000 in prize money won when he was cheating, so why he is allowed to compete is beyond me - he's having difficulty getting invites to races on the circuit as they don't like the publicity he attracts

Didn't the British Athletics Federation go into liquidation after being sued for £500k by Diana Modahl.

I guess you can understand why they're being legalistic and cautious.

People tended to give Diane Modahl the benefit of the doubt. But she was never cleared of the testosterone result. It was just that the BAF accepted that, because the sample was tested in Portugal (patronizing implication that Portugal was some sort of 3rd world country), they would accept there was a doubt. And so her ban was lifted because of the doubt (and probably because she was threatening to sue). But I remember, at the time, remarking on the change in her body shape, from slightly plump and womanly to skinny and muscular. And the fact that her performance had improved markedly. You can often tell things from who is the coach and I remember not feeling good that she was being coached by her athletics-businessman husband Vicente.

And, yes, the BAF had to go into liquidation.

But that's all history

Dwain Chambers' hopes of earning enough money to appeal against his Olympic ban looked in tatters last night after two of the world's leading athletics promoters said they did not want him back.
