Dulwich Hamlet FC v Cheshunt FC (FA Trophy), Tuesday, 15 Dec 2020 at 7:45 PM

Are the Council also pressuring all the shops, bars and restaurants on Lordship Lane to close today?

This isn't a question of pressure, we felt it was the right thing to do too after talking to them, as we have to talk to them before every open to the public game currently. Along with the league/FA depending on competition and SAG.

A gentle reminder that the club has been and continues to be run by volunteers through this entire period and previous to it. We're trying our best in what I think we can all agree are quite hard circumstances. It's feeling like a pretty thankless task at the moment truth be told.

Initial anger has been tempered by understanding you're caught between a rock and a hard place. I'm quite happy with match ticket credits rather than a refunds if it helps.

Firstly can I commend the club on their handling this situation calmly and in good time and, above all, doing the right thing with the best interests of the community at the heart of the decision. this is not an easy thing judge but it feels like the Club are getting this exactly right.

Second point I will make is that this is not just about 600 fans standing in a socially distanced and responsible manner at a game; it is the getting there, getting away and what they do afterwards that also matters in this situation - and I am sure all of these factors have been taken into account and not taken lightly.

Third point, as Cyclo said above, the rules are actually pretty straight forward and it's good to be familiar with them. They may seem a little arbitrary at times, they are certainly annoying, and there are obvious flaws in them here and there (not least concerning schools and households mixing at Christmas), but they are simple to follow and it probably should be something we all take a moment to familiarise ourselves with for obvious reasons. It is the trying to circumvent them which is where the confusion sets in, and the attempting to circumvent is essentially what leads to the spikes in cases and the new measures being introduced.

Fourth - on a personal note, I am gutted because I had just bought an extra big set of keys to jangle whilst shouting "you're shit ahhhh". I will have to do this at home whilst watching the game on the you tube instead.

Finally, I am really annoyed at having to have written this post, this wouldn't have been necessary if those posting above hadn't decided to post what they posted.

So at the same time as we move to playing behind closed doors a day early, the government is taking legal action to stop Greenwich switching to online learning for the last 3 days of term.

Really feel for everyone at the club who worked so hard to adjust after Saturday to get tonight's match on safely; if I feel gutted they must feel 10 times as bad. And I've not just lost out on £7k+ either.

Need a win tonight to lift the spirits, hope Gavin resists the temptation to let all the fringe players have a run out as he is prone to doing in the cups.

Wonderfully barmy selection of rules.. Might wander up to the West End on Friday when I should have been going to the Leicester Square Odeon to see Wonder Woman 1984 just to see the shops, those not in “malls”, still thronging with Christmas shoppers...

I googled rules of tier three and found the information in a matter of seconds. There are scores of articles spelling them out.
I think most people probably just want clarity and certainty. They aren't likely to Google the government website on a daily basis to see whether anything has changed since they finished their breakfast, or plough through articles detailing nonsensical inconsistencies.

Forgive me for not knowing the details of Government policy. Are the Council also pressuring all the bars and restaurants on Lordship Lane to close today?
The rules are laid out here

Bars and venues close tonight.

So rather than spending an evening at Champion Hill or enjoying a pint & a substantial Scotch Egg at the Dog & Duck or watching the latest Hollywood blockbuster at the fleapit looks like the option is an evening’s shopping at the Marble Arch branch of Primark... at least that’s the way I read Tier 3 rules...

you don’t have to. I did it when the tiers were first introduced and occasionally check things. As I said, it takes a matter of seconds

Stepping back to the keyboard in a calmer frame of mind.... Sorry for expressing my severe disappointment in a way that hurt you, the other volunteers, the club. You have all been fantastic throughout. My beef is with the government and their ridiculous rules that betray their warped priorities. Sorry again that that came out in a way that appeared to be criticising you guys.

Nah I was being lazy and misremembering / making assumptions about Lockdown 1 and Tier 3.

I hear you mate, no one's as disappointed as us. Going to be grim again in an empty stadium tonight but at least we'll be able to stream it for everyone.

Looks like my fears were unfounded. Very strong team. Henry in for Allasani the only notable swap, not surprising given the whack he got on Saturday.

Something I’d contemplate doing but after just receiving this ..... ???? View attachment 243710
The difference is 12.96 - assuming you have not been refunded a full price ticket? It might be delayed...? I bought two at the same time, as my partner and I have season tickets, but only one has been refunded an hour ago. But I’m just assuming the next one will come through in a little while.

Shame there was no fans in to see that tonight. Like last Tuesday, we were under the cosh from the start and our first goal was against the run of play.

Skillful stuff from Danny to create the opener, and we settled into the game after that. Third goal was nicely done and could have had more, Henry just failing twice to spring the offside trap.

Again like last week poor to lose a late goal and deny Grainger a deserved clean sheet as he made some good saves during their early pressure.

Team seemed to panic a bit and a bit lucky their guy got a huge nosebleed to run down the clock as another goal would have made things very nervous indeed.
