Dulwich Hamlet 4-0 Grays Athletic (League cup, Tue 13 Sep, 7.45pm)

Is this included in season tickets? I know it's half price night but still. Bringing my mam tonight!

3-0

Chambers, Tomlin and ex-Palace man Kieran Djilali the subs used.

Sandy Cunningham may feel a little peeved as it seemed, on the face of it, a perfect opportunity to get some minutes.

Most excellent evening at Champion Hill, virtually one way traffic the whole game.

Shots were raining in on the Grays goal from kick-off until the final whistle. I know they are having a shocking season so far, but we were utterly dominant.

All quality goals, confusion over 4/5 - 0 I think stemming from an attack which saw Drage slam the ball into the net but was harshly judged offside.

Good team spirit, good to see us play well even with Tomlin on the bench, and nice to get a confidence boosting clean sheet.

Agree with the poster who said perfect opportunity to see if Cunningham is going to be of use this season, would appear not. New player came on as a sub who I hadn't seen before, as well as Chambers in centre midfield.

Percil played well but I would like to see him chip in with a few more goals. Hopefully more to come from him.

Biggest concern was Kargbo being stretchered off and an ambulance arriving in the car park at full time, hope I am putting two and two together and getting five.

Usual bar shenanigans, this time with most beers off and card machines not working, but it was quiet enough that they got away with it.

Really good game. Enjoyed Dulwich. Had a beer with my super mate after. No beer whatsoever in the bar afterwards mind so we went to the Cherry Tree who had loads of beer.

Without check, this game last year attracted around a couple of hundred people max so maybe the bar under ordered mid week. Hard to judge

Well, Grays were fucking terrible. Mostly reserves I'm led to believe, though? Kargbo's goal was a delicious example of a shot still rising as it hits the roof of the net. Really hope he's not out for long as a player of that class is going to be sorely missed. Teniola's finish was genius - spotted a gap between two players and curled home past the (awful) GK.

Gavin Tomlin has the touch of a guy who played 35 games in L1 in 2014-15. Wait...

Season tickets are for Ryman League games and friendlies only. Cup games do not apply to any season tickets, as gate receipts have to be split.

Ah! Thanks, wasn't sure how it worked, I thought maybe the early ones were included or something. Helpful to know. :)

Is there any news on Kargbo? Looked like a bad one.

That was not their reserves at all as most were listed on their football webpages link plus they played 2 new signings as well.

13 of the squad were in the line up listed for the FA Cup game at Leiston and the 6 and 7 were new signings.

Agree with the first bit, not sure about the second bit. Seven of last night's side started their 2-2 home draw with Staines on Bank Holiday Monday. Bearing in mind they've since lost 4-1 at Leiston (FA Cup) and 6-1 at Merstham in between, maybe four changes isn't that unexpected? They're obviously in some sort of crisis.

Surprised that was a first team from Grays - they were abject.

But Dulwich seemed to play with coherence and confidence last night - something that was even missing at Pagham. Enjoyed watching that. Hopefully it's the boost the team needs.

Looking forward to Greenwich Borough away - do we have a date for that yet?

Grays are 3 points behind us in the league and we thrashed them...

...But they are also in the relegation places so that probably says more about us than them.

Ooh, what a joy to play a side that was unarguably awful. They have to be the worst side I've seen at this level since we got promoted.

I'm not really one for unbridled optimism, but I think the last two games have been a massive improvement and (despite Saturday's result) I've actually enjoyed our performances. It's so refreshing to see us having shots and putting a sting in our attacks. We seem to have finally grasped the concept that if you don't shoot you wont score.

We also seem to have rediscovered some degree of sexy football as well and there's a lot less mindless punts at [insert striker's name here]'s head. We seem to be getting the ball on the deck and moving it at a speed faster than that of the average pensioner on a zimmer.

RM-P has been brilliant IMO for the last couple of games and has to be one of the first names on the teamsheet now on. Such quick feet and chases so many lost causes. I think Kadell is very tidy too and moves the ball quickly.

Also think Teniola is a great addition, been really impressed with him. He always gets a (reasonably accurate) shot off and causes lots of problems with his runs beyond the defence. Hopefully we can keep him for longer than a month. It'll be healthy for Carr to have competition and he seems to make a visible impact when he's on the pitch.

Hopefully Kargbo will be OK - he's a vital player for us and no one else in the squad can do the role he does, as shown by the fact Chambers had to play there last night (should we have let Leon Fisher go?!?!?).

Still work to do, but finally, (FINALLY), after four seasons, it feels like we're moving in a good and shot-happy direction.

Personally, if I had my way, I'd like us to play even more cup matches, and re-affiliate to the Surrey county FA, so that we could play in the Surrey Senior Cup too.

Totally agree with this! We have a fantastic history in the Surrey Senior Cup and we should go in to at least defend our record of being the most successful team in the competition! Surely it would give people like Cunningham and Mugabo, not to mention ASPIRE players, invaluable game time?

Did this get raised over the summer, Mish?

Shame, as it's so easy to get to, I shall be away on holiday in the Netherlands, watching a game in the Dutch Cup that night.

The previous round is next week. The last 32 is spread over three nights, Tues 25/10; Wed. 26/10 & Thur.27/10.
Last year I went to Vitesse Arnhem v. Ajax in a league game on the Sunday & cup games in the week I went to Almere City v. Den Bosch; HBS v. Kozakken Boys [HBS play in The Hague] & NEC Nijmegen v. Sparta Rotterdam.

This year I arrive on the Friday, so hope to see league games [not sure what level yet] on the Firday, Saturday & Sunday. Then the three cup matches in the week, returning to England on the Friday. Not checked where yet, but probably Volendam on the Friday in the Second Division. Been there many years ago, so not a 'tick' but it's close to Amsterdam, where the hostel I'm staying in is.

I always go away this time of year, to 'treat myself' when it's my birthday. A sort of 'pat on the back' to myself for getting to another birthday sober. Which sounds a bit sad, but there you go!
