Am i persuaded?
Well, someone did mention the dubstep v techno standoff and I reckon thats where its coming from. Although a mate from bristle said its speed garage slowed right down with the accentuation of the off beat snare. Then gallons of subbass added in a reggaefried way.
I also find it sparse or should i say minimalistic brooding music with not much technical drumpatterns as in junglist sounds i like or as exciting as the 'jump up' style of ragga dancehall.. And it doesnt have the musical arrangements for which reggae is universally admired, with real instruments..whinge
It seems to me that its the old accessibility to technology argument, with sweat stained bedroom producers getting trashed while making beats...
Btw I'm not a musician, apart from blasts of little walter like blues on the gob iron.
As for the drug references, kids have nowt better to do do they. Only kidding. I'm a music lover not a drug lover although Music is best appreciated with a little alchohol and nicotine, the sweetest lovers theres ever been
I suppose I fall into the catergory of liking the more adventurous tracks than the sparse bass heaviness brooding tracks. Which quite frankly are boring. And they have to be played on a feckin BIG RIG for body quakeing effect....
