this is so damn funky (yet dubby) & tight that I had to post it, 79!

one from from Trinidad and Tobago here,
I know I said, when I first started this thread in 2010 that |I didn't want dub tunes in this thread, I have to finish the night on this, such a wicked tune, dropped by scruff from 1980.
Top work moody
think you'll dig this moody
used to play this one a lot.
the same band done a great version of bowies golden years.
man, some keyboards;
chicken lips all over this;
dubby electro circa 82.
dubby electro funk/jazz.
loving the arab-esq vibe on this,
a fav of mine, dropped in my last mix tape, if such a thing exists!
A little high tempo for me, around 120bpms this but quality tune throughout.
ah, the flute......
I like this one. Must confess I find a lot of this 'dubby' tune stuff fairly third rate compared to the real thing, but I also understand that makes me a bit snobby and narrow minded
Anyway have a go on this from Wackies studio, imo the best studio that produced dub outside of Jamaica. Run by Jamaicans though obvs
The repress is still available.
thats not completely a bad thing. I live, mostly in an 80s bubble. I'm not scared to venture out, this is how i find new stuff, you tube sessions, friends recommendations etc... I try not to be opposed to new stuff, genres, labels, artists, but I , like you have my preference. Its the only way to discover new stuff is by stepping out of ones bubble.
thois is one of the reasons I stated this thread, for new tunes.
This is great! (just making a Spotify playlist of tracks from here )
I do the same with my lot from the radio station and Mrs R's disco/old school/hip hop stuff, otherwise I would only listen reggae and bore myself stupid.
so what, no gary numan?
used to play this a hell of a lot.
post punk dub disco. really like this, dropped it on a mix of mine.
same style as above, not really too dubby this one but an instrumental, and features a strong bassline.
pretty dubby, they had two bass players in the group.
this is a bit different, dubby, electronic but almost like a rock-a-billy tune.
cabaret voltaire, 87. nice strong beats here.
