hah. It's not very far away from New-Beat - in many ways it's it's a precursor. Gloomy synth pop and experimental electronics. The Minimal Wave Tapes vols 1 & 2 are a good introduction (I prefer vol 2 overall, but they're both good). Here's a random tune off them:

ah, I do have a few tunes like that, just never heard it referred to as minimal synth before.

jeff & jane hudson are good artists within this genre

I can recommend this (very affordable) compilation moody - all very solid punk funk dub disco stuff.

on another note, post punk glaswegian dubbyness from talking drums who I've been informed were a big hit in the day on the gig circuit.

not really a fan of re-pitched records as the strings/keys/vocals often suffer but this one gets away with it, just a bit.

*I did have a deck once where you could adjust the tempo of a track with out changing the key if the speed wasn't adjusted too much... beyond +/- 4% I think

back to post punk, anna domino is a recent discovery and this is one of my fav tracks of hers. it's actually gonna be on a 80s dubby themed mixtape I'm just adding finishing touches to.

    Here you are then,

If you've been keeping up you'll be familiar with some tracks but some I've held back from the thread so expect a few surprises too.

A jaunt through some dubby 80s tracks, 17 in all with 14 of them being period recordings. Out of the three non 80s; one is an idjut boys version and another a 70s soul track which is the opener.
A mishmash of post punk, no wave, cold war electronica, jazz, new beat. ebm and rock.

I made a few wav quality copies on cd, I have also printed out a tracklist with small biog on each artist & release.

Free copy to first 5 Urbz that can tell me which of the tracks is by Smith & Mudd.... clue, they're signed to Claremont 56.
