Drummer needed for guitar and bass

Drummer?

Like proper punk?

Could rehearse [ideally] Deptford/New Cross/Peckham-ish areas?

Two "old" punks need a drummer. Covers to start with - you're very welcome to suggest your faves.

Nice people. Laid back. Both have day jobs.

Looking to gig later in the summer.

No plans for world domination - just a good laugh, some loud fast noise and a welcome stress releif from the rubbish that is modern life.

More The Clash than Green Day. More 999 than the Offspring. Ramones, Crass, Johnny Thunders, Buzzcocks, Pistols, Conflict, Discharge, Peter, Pistols, Husker Du etc, etc

Hard left or anarchist politics preferred. No fucking Tories.

Own kit and transport preferred. Will consider a committed beginner.

Any age/gender/race.

Our last drummer is under the patio... :D

That's what we found, too. Exactly the same in Bristol and London, by the sound of it. :(

I'm going to go and "remove" all the guitars in Sound Control at lunchtime, in the hope of forcing people to buy drumkits instead...

They have a Sound Control in the town my dad lives in. Not a fan. I like your strategy though! :D

I may suggest to the bass beast we use a drum machine, a la Sisters. :(

Just get a 909

My 11 year old would like to do this. And for punk you'll just need someone who goes bang, bang, bang anyway.

:D

The world is sadly lacking in decent, available drummers.

:(
I've had offers to join two, nay three bands in the last couple of months, but I just haven't got the time right now. Sorry.

*puts down sticks

Death to drum machines

**weeps**

Is there anyone who can count to four (five is optional and may just confuse us all)? Perhaps has tub thumped before?

Songs ready to go. Gigs ready and waiting if we want them/when we're ready, both London and out of town.

Two genuinely pleasant old punky rockers.

"No pressure" rehearsals. We'll move at our own pace.

**sighs**

I may have to kidnap a random Urbanite and force them to play at gun point. Hopefully, I'll snaffle a sexy Urb. And aren't we all sexy.... :D

Anyone who can play a wee bit fancy a go? Any age/gender/race/sexuality. But...

...politics hard left/anarchist would work best.

I fear I may have to suggest a drum machine to Tim the Bass. :( I never wanted to be in the Sisters or Suicide. :( x a large fucking number....

C'mon. Are you ready to rock, as PL once sang? Are you ready? Cos if you're ready.... :D

**If I keep bumping this, it may end up a 'sticky' thread....lmao**

If I was nearer I'd come and at least have a muck about with you, Lights. I used to do a bit of thumping waaaaay back. :D

I feel your pain. We still don't have one but just got on with it anyway.

I would love to come and play but I don't really have the time, (or a good kit)

I thought your band was staffed-up and fully functioning. :(

The few drummers I've spoken to who have responded to various ads have mostly been muso types. When I tell em we're more about fun, they lose interest.

Fun does not mean 'shite'. I don't get up in front of an audience to make a cunt of myself.

But it seems drummers want world domination and to take it 'seriously'.

Hey ho.

We have had some drummers show interest but it's never really worked out. We have never played with a live drummer. There are ups and downs.

Drum tapes however can be mixed the way you like with extra distortion and overdubs.

I'd still rather have a drummer.

Oh, right. Didn't know that (re no drummer). I've never seen you play. Perhaps you can list your next London dates? :)

The bass player is moving house. When he's settled, I may suggest we try a drum machine. :( Else I can see us, our wee project, drifting away...

I've never played with a drum machine. Guess it'll be good discipline for my guitar playing - less leaping around, more staying on beat.

Nah, you just let the drum machine get on with keeping the beat, you just do what you like. Rutabowa spends most of his time on the floor, I'm not so good at this because all the money falls out of my pockets.

How do you handle between song stuff, do you tend to stop and restart the machine or what. Anytime I've seen a band use a machine, the constant stopping and starting breaks up the show's momentum somewhat.

^ foot pedal? Trigger from the guitar (somekind of MIDI thingy?????).

Only band I've seen with a DM which was effective was the Sisters.

I haven't seen the lads' band ^^.

Yeah, we kind of found that after show one so we just play the tape from start to finish. No stopping, problem solved.

I bring it all mixed and distorted on an MP3 player so there are no footpedals. However it's also pretty light.
