drug raids on coldharbour lane

From drug raids to defamation laws to chippies -- only on u75. Do domestic goddesses really go down the chippy? I can't imagine Nigella Lawson... no, actually, I can  : not so much eating chips as fellating them.

:D

I agree with Nigella Lawson on one thing -- life's too short to fry chips. PacificOcean -- have you tried Ollies in Herne Hill?

Yes lovely though a bit on the pricey side for a glorified chip shop. Again as someone who doesn't drive it's too far. I hate putting chips in the oven as it dries them out. yuk!

Nooooooh. No-one in this country makes chips as well as me. They're easy with a friteuse -- whaddya call them, frying machine -- and some time. Like when the footy's on. Cook them through at 150 degrees, then crisp them up for 60m seconds and 190. Simple.

OK. They are the best, apart from mine. Olley's , I think. You have to eat them there or nearby to get the benefit of hot, fresh, crispy chips though.

The chippy opposite The Warrior is gone.

The Warrior has licence till 2008 I think - info from sunman's (developer) comments on this forum.

Crack legally available?

I'm not so sure about that one...

(editor wonders if the legality of the drug played any part in his street attack)

Actually yes I do think that.Take Heroin as an example. The problem with Herion addicts -like Crack addicts is that the drug costs so much they have to turn to crime/prostitution to buy it.Alcoholics dont cause the same social problems as its cheap and legal to buy.Alcoholics die due to their addiction-it takes longer tham some addicts

Although wildly off-topic for which mea culpa mea culpa, you have to go a long way to beat vegetarian pie and mash and a strong cup of tea at the shop in Greenwich.

I live right opposite Pedro Keys, and can't say that I lament it's closure too much. Mind you, I never did try their shrimp...

I understand from the shopkeeper next door to me that there were some deportations to Jamaica - as we were having this conversation a BMW was being towed away from Rushcroft Road. It was said-shopkeeper's opinion that this was (one of) the dealer's car(s).

Says that Padro Keys was closed down under an ASBO order-this is news to me?How does that work?
I think the legislation was drawn up in such an ambiguous way that it's proved very useful in ways no-one imagined...I've certainly seen very creative use of it in terms of clearing crack-houses and the like when everyone thought it would be used to evict families with an out-of-control teenager. In fact my experience regarding pain-in-the-arse teenagers causing grief on Lambeth estates is that people are reluctant to complain as they know the reason is largely no youth facilities whatsoever and that they are reluctant to see an entire family penalised for the behaviour of one of its members.......

Diving off at another tangent here - mind you, after the chip shops what's to stop me? - my leg-waxing lady, a veritable fount of local information, tells me Bobby Brown (Mister Whitney, that one) popped down to Pedro Key's on a recent visit to London.

Perhaps all the proof the police needed the raid the place?

Actually I've also heard that another American singer, female, has been interested in buying a place in Lambeth (her name escapes me). Apparently British R&B is very popular in the USA, maybe that's why there seems to be a sudden interest.

It's true! And I saw Elvis browsing in Book Mongers the other day. ;)

What would Bobby Brown be doing in the veritable dump that is Pedro Keys? (Don't answer that).

LOL. Very good. :D

And doesn't he look young on the cover. I used to have this record (yes I know it was pretty crap, I just can't believe it was nearly 20 years ago).
