Drug dealer suspect in custody since January while police waits for him to poo

This has amused me from my hospital bed where not long ago had to take a shit on a comode i can only describe in the opposite terms of 'withholding evidence' as 'singing like a canary'. Pity the fella in the next bed.

ETA not the poor lad that died of course but ya man inside
Hope it's not too serious, and that commode use is due to needing evidence or only a temporary loss of mobility!

"he only has to co-operate" :D
at least they've got the record of 33 days beaten

'In charge of fate'
The court heard the situation was "unprecedented" and the previous record for preventing the evacuation of the bowels was believed to have been 33 days.

Police officers were at court to get an extension to his time in custody.

Prosecutor Bob Rowlingson told the court: "He's in charge of his fate, he only has to co-operate with police".

I'm more perplexed that he didn't have the shit kicked out of him on arrest.#not the old bill that i know.

Im waiting for the line of "i wonder if he was a brexshitter" to be rolled out
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Imagine being his smell mate , whoops i obvs mean cellmate !

This was the basis of an Australian fillum, with some disgusting scenes. The Mule (2014) - IMDb

It's got lord of the rings people in it. Dunno how long mordor's anti-terror laws allowed suspects to be held in custody without charge for but Frodo should've swallowed the ring. Jackson could've got another 3 hours out of it.
My first thought when I read the story was that they've seen the film and think that they can beat the system the same way.

Only that was a film and this is not and there is no winning line date he can pass (no pun intended) and be let off.

The BBC followed this story with a 'feature' asking the question of how dangerous it is to hold off taking a shit for 20 days. I was surprised to read that apparently not very dangerous at all. Perhaps the difference between the poor chap who died and this one is that the latter is refusing to eat, so is not contributing further to the festering mess in his intestines. But I still find it surprising...

When you don't poo for more than 20 days
I went nearly two weeks in 2014. It's fucking painful and also, after a few days, stops you from being able to pee too. I barely made it to A&E on the bus, by which time i was in constant pain. Then the chemist i managed to hobble to said i had to come back in a day for my prescription, and i wasn't even sure i'd be able to make it back the next day!! Luckily they had a small amount which they let me have and it was enough. In fact I had another fortnight where i couldn't leave the house because i couldn't stop shitting!!
It was caused by taking a lot of painkillers apparently - can fuck your gut up. I am so mindful of my bowel movements now - never again!

He must be facing a long stretch. (Ho ho ho)

Having done 10 days once, like Sea Star due to heavy duty painkillers....never ever again. I don’t know what drugs he’s got inside him but I would rather do a short prison sentence than face serious constipation. After 37 days he will be feeling beyond shit.

When I was on truck loads of codine I didn't go for some days.
I forget for how long for but for someone who goes a lot I was highly disturbed by it and even missed it.

'You'll never make me shit copper'
- Well, to be honest, we are beginning to admire your spirit! And to celebrate you breaking the record, we thought we'd get you a special tea. Lamb Madras, followed by stewed prunes and a few lagers to wash it down
'Oh, thanks! That's actually very decent of you'
----
'DOH!'

Surely the guy would just shit himself in his sleep? How does that not happen?

Is there some equivalent of the old hand in a bucket of water trick they could (legally?) do?

When he does poo will there be tweet informing us of it?
from metro link
Essex Police started a hashtag – #PooWatch – to keep us all updated about any sudden movements. But after 24 days, the force stopped providing updates on the situation. Instead, a spokesperson said they will make one final announcement ‘when he does what he needs to do"
