I might well be up for this like, never made it actually into the que club, closest i got was being outside it after the big birmingham RTS in this huge mass of people trying to get in before it had opened... had to drag myself away or get left in brum that day & never made it back.
Was that the one when the G8 talks were in Brum? I was at that, and made it into the club afterwards, was a fucking mental night :D

A trip to see the folks might be in order to celebrate the Que reopening. Niiiiiicccccccceeeeee :D :D :D

OK, can someone who's a bit more "down with the kidz" than me say who the fuck any of those acts are, and what stuff they do? :D

london breakbeat orchestra = classical orchestra (in terms of instruments) playing DnB/breaks (Look on youtube)
Kamoni = New Yorker playing electronic live breals using midi drum sequencers I think to control whatever software.. I think it's more live than an ableton set is, he's got some vids on youtube as well.
McMash Clan = wrongmusic bizzarre liveish breakbeat thing.
samba central = samba band ;)
PCM are brummie legendary DnB ish producers. I guess you know them..
Utah Saints = u-u-u-utah saints

Broken minds room is Drum and Bass. Subvert room is ska/punk (360 I know are good, don't know others). Move is house. Jibbering is roots/reggae/dub/hip-hop/etc (dj rubbish is great). mic club is hip-hop mc's.

ooo be nice to do our normal waving at each other as you run around all busy too BigTom :D

if I come to this (and I really want to), likelihood is that I'll only be able to get to New Street for 11:45 and I'll have a shitload of gear with me, too much to take in (and possibly including a paintball marker which I doubt they'd be happy with inside the club!)

solutions anyone?

There are some lockers at New Street I think.

that occurred to me as I posted.

whereabouts are they? and if I turn up that late, am I likely to get in easily? actually, advance tickets would be good in this instance I suppose.

Not lockers, but there is a left luggage place. I think it's about £6 for 24 hours or maybe more.

I'm interested in this night and reckon my bf would be too, what sort of thing do people wear?

Would it be open at nearly midnight?

I'm planning on black tie if that's any help

They used to be outside by the transport polices office iirc, the exit to the left of the escalators.
However I've just read this

Left Luggage
For security reasons all left luggage lockers have been replaced by over-the-counter baggage storage facilities, with airline type screening at all London and major provincial stations and airports.

London stations opening hours are 0700-2300 Mon-Sun. All outlets are open 363 days of the year and only close on 25th and 26th December.

Charges at stations are a £5.50 per item for 24 hours, with each extra 24 hours being charged at £6.00 per item.

Be a good idea to give them a ring I think. To make sure they're gonna be open when you get there! :)

so they're screening all of it, just to see if I haven't got any guns or potentially explosive gas/air canisters

oh dear...

Anyone know what the score is gonna be with non-smoking? Passouts onto corporation street?

Better be! I'm not going all night without a fag, especially if drink and drugs are involved.

Just had a look and left luggage at New Street closes at 11 o'clock

bollocks

That's typical innit

Might be a bit of hassle, but what about Birmingham International? Depends where you're coming from I suppose, but I guess they will have more/better lock-ups cos of the airport. and the trains are pretty frequent between Int and New Street.

Tell me!
and I suppose there will be the hassle of getting searched before entry again too

My works xmas do is at a comedy club in Brum, but apparently they don't know if they'll have a passout system, cos the seats are in rows and meals are involved I guess. So doubt myself or many of my colleagues are going to go!

I can't believe they won't make some provision for people to go out and have a fag. I've not been to a club since the ban, but I'm told a lot of them aren't forcing people through security when they come back in from a fag break. A lot of places are cordoning off an area for people to stand and smoke in, provided they've space.

JTG I'll speak to someone who might be able to help, will get back to you :)

if you could that would be brilliant :)

Rovers play Leeds in Bristol that night so I can't get up earlier. But I do really want to come 'cos it's DBNB and it's you lot :)

You're not the only one....

no.. I don't pay any attention to the prices, but I'm also surprised by that.. I know that dave is planning to do a festival next year, and that rather alot of cash is needed upfront for it so it may be to do with that.

I'll find out about smoking, and what is happening for all of you.. even as a smoker I forgot to ask what they are doing when I went to see the venue..

<waves at aqua before rushing off> :D

£20 a bit steep?

We're spending shitloads of dosh on the production for this event. Lights alone are costing us £15k to hire-in. There's a monumental list of staggering additional costs that have to be covered......where do you think this money will come from?

It's the re-opening of the Que Club........a place of legendary standing. As such it deserves to be a very special night, which it will be. The following night will be hosted by Bounce2this and they are charging £25 per ticket. We offered them the opportunity to share the kit we're installing and share the cost, they refused saying that it was far too expensive. I believe that what you'll be experiencing will demonstrate that this is not only £20 well-spent, but is actually a frigging good deal.

the Last event in April cost £75,000 and we made a £4,000 loss. Last november's cancellation of the Air gig cost me just over £3,000. April 2006 event resulted in a loss of £10,000 due to a ticket outlet screwing up ticket prices. I simply cannot afford to lose money again and again to keep this event going.

If anyone has any ideas as to how else I can keep this thing going without such a ticket price pease do tell. I'm all ears.
