Drogba the diver

'The smallest contact'? Not necessarily even a foul then?

And even if it is a foul, exaggerating it is no better then waving cards trying to get people booked. Blatent cheating as far as I'm concerned.

As I understand it if the tackler doesn't get any of the ball first its a foul. Could be wrong tho. The laws are somewhat odd..

I cant recall a 'dive' Ronaldo has made where the player got the ball first, but I'm someone will be along soon with a dossier of youtube videos.

i have to agree, it is cheating or at least borderline, but a liverpool fan pointing the finger??? fuck, now that is hypocricy

Have you ever watched a Man Utd match? The cunt dives for Portugal. However, he's not as bad as he used to be.

Er, yep I've seen one or two United matches...

Had the pleasure of watching Ronaldo running rings round Arsenal at OT a coupla weeks ago. He moves so quickly the Arse defence could only kick at him, or in a coupla cases simply try to barge him off the ball. 2-1 United.

i dont think he dives any where near as much as he used to, but like just about every other player in the world he goes down far too easily, so why the fuck do posters keep banging on about him?

In this thread it was because a Man U fan brought him up in the second post.

Which probably distracted from the other usual argument about Gerrard.

Seen the FA Youth Cup Final?

Chelsea's No7 has already mastered the dark art

didn't see it, but i am not suprised, there was a piece on football mondial a while back and they were interviewing a young kid from the arsenal youth acadamy, in tunisia, i think, and when he was asked what they were teaching him he replied, lots of things "and they teach us how to fall down to win free kicks" it is endemic in football, no top club is immune from it and it is starting to become more and more common in the lower leagues, just some of the more blinkered posters on here only see it when it is a united player, especially ronaldo

Drogba is a frequent diver, however the last person who should be able to comment upon it is Benitez, who is a hypocritical clown of the very worst kind.

As for Ronaldo, yes he does still dive, but he tends to find less gullible referees now and so tends not to get the result he "demands".

As for the spreading of diving, most teams in the Premiership have one or two (for us, its Arteta and the Yak) wheras the "big four" have full squads of them - and its very noticable in the lower leagues how diving, rolling around like a bad actor doing an impression of someone who has been shot and backchat to referee is much less prevalent.

i have to disagree with you on this, he always gets mentioned

He is yeah - he's probably the highest profile player in the country at the moment so it isn't that surprising. It was the Man U fans in this particular thread that brought him up though.

Anyway - Gerrard, what a cheat.

It is but it still happens. I'd be lying if I said I'd never seen a Lincoln player dive.

They tend to be as shit at it as they are at everything else though.

true, but one watches lincoln vs rotherham (for example) and its rare, watch everton vs derby and its more common, but watch chelsea vs utd and its rare to see a challenge that someone doesnt dive / bitch / feign injury at the end of it.

I did enjoy Drogba's celebration for the first goal mind, sliding on his knees for about 10ft, coming to rest just before Benitez and the 'Pool bench.

'Now that's a proper dive, beardy'...

I think the whole "Drogba is a diver" issue has ever so slightly missed the point. For me, it isn't so much that Drogba dives, although he does go down as easily as any other striker in the PL. It's more that once he has gone down, he rolls around as if he is being garrotted. I'm a Chelsea fan and it annoys the tits off of me -- I always find myself shouting, "Get the fuck UP!" at him.

Lampard is inviting all the Chelsea players to his mums funeral....apart from Drogba...apparantly they couldn't guarentee he wouldn't dive in the box;):D
