Dress etiquette for interviews and work

I has a 'proper' job now and I've started dressing a little less scruffily for it. On occasion I am even smart.

Question: In summer, when it's hot (ha) can I show the tats on my shoulders or would I be out on my ear?

(In fact I'm sure it won't be a problem, I just want to know what people think about tats at work generally.)

Worst case scenario IMO is that they ask you to cover them up - they wouldn't chuck you out or anything.
