Dr Who....

Reminded me a bit of Casanova this time... and that's enough 18th century period costume episodes now thanks BBC, we know how much you love them.

It was Sophia Myles. She was rather easy on the eye.

I hope that the alternative earth somehow turns out to be mondas and the doctor somehow pulls it into our universe creating the cybermen threat. How cool would that be? Not very uou say. It better happen now.

This was an excellent episode. I liked the way that madame pompodour was able to create a door at his behest but then slip through it into his mind.
It does beg the question how vulnerable is the great doctor.

I how we are left with the doctor and co surrounded by cybermen and even scarier Rose's alternative mum was last seen going into a maze of underground cellars followed slowly by............. a cyberman.

Cybermen + underground tunnels = scary

I thought the story was a bit too similar to that of Genesis of the Daleks, y'know mad old geezer in a wheelchair evolves his people to be metal-cased nasties...

Presumably the deal is the Doctor's previous knowledge of Cybermen is flawed though, being in the alternative dimension that he is - hence his suprise at their reaction to his surrender...

Could the Cybermen be any less scary?

It was like a futuristic SMASH episode

Scary...the Borg are scary

Cybermen? Pffft

I tend to agree. The latest Cyberman revision is too 'pretty'. The 1980's versions were the most thuggish looking. These ones look like the robot from Metropolis.

We need to see them throwing up a bit more I think, and a bit more hydraulic fluid spurting from their eyes.

I thought last week's was an promising episode with some great lines, pace that maintained interest and good characterisation of the central pair and what was going on for them.

This week I thought "yikes! Parallel universes - zeppelins - Philip Pullman or what?" (The guy who wrote His Dark Materials, brilliant fantasy about this sort of thing where zeppelins were also prevalent...)

Then they had Mckey repeat several times the concept was not new. Shaping up to be a bit like "Father's Day" in the last series when Rose's Dad realizes pretty soon who she is, she did call out "Dad" to him when they escaped the cybermen into the grounds and he ran off with Rose and the Doctor.

They seemed to be mentioning a Torchwood in the parallel universe as well, and it was foregrounded in the Victoriana/werewolf episode, so looks like that's going to be part of the series denouement too - as well as the last secret of the face of Boe.

Good to see both versions of Mickey, really entertaining stuff.

Yup. I thought that must be a deliberate reference, an 'homage' if you like? If it wasn't it was quite lazy to have used the same device.

She just said quick actually.

I agree though, excellent episode, can't wait to see the second part

Yeah, I hadn't thought of it but there are some similarities there. I liked all the little details, like the President of GB and 'New Germany'.

Billie Piper is lovely, she asked my housemate out once when they were at school together... he said no :(

But she's now going out with someone else I know from uni, which is a bit weird.

Er, if things don't work out Tedix between the two of them any chance of putting in a good word?

;) :D

You'll have to get past me first  Actually, my bro kind of knows her as well (his work is related to Doctor Who) That's three unrelated links! maybe it's a sign we're meant to be together

She is lovely, our Billie.

Two things put me off.

She's the ex-wife of Ginger Twat.

And she's got a huge gob.

Theres a rather heated debate going on at DS, with some ego maniacal Who fans claiming the Cybermen are the greatest thing since sliced bread and that the Borg from ST aren't as scary

Sounds like a Ninjaboy topic...Borg VS Cybermen

Resistance is futile VS Resistance is...er....useless

how British
