Dr Who Xmas Special

I'm sure you could find it online somewhere.

My internet speed sucks, so that isn't an option :(

On the bright side - my daughter was soooo convinced that it would be on at Christmas, that she will find it. I mentioned that her old mum would love a copy, but I'm still waiting for some of the other episodes.

:(

Yes.

Was considering adding a 'disappointing' tag to thread.

Hammier than a ham sandwich sprinkled with fragments of Hammy the hamster and soya-based ham substitute, soaked in ham fat.

:D:D

Tbhi was watching it while really drunk, so i didn't notice it being THAT bad! It was just what i expect from Russell, which isn't really a compliment.

Innit.

I enjoyed it (but maybe didn't have high expectations) but am hoping that was that last of Davis involvement - is it all Moffat as chief-cunt-in-charge from here on in? Please someone say this is so!

Cool. Fucking. Dude.

Just what is so great about Dr Who? Why do people get so excited about it? Why has it been so popular all these years? Why does it inspire so much devotion, discussion and speculation? It seems more than just a TV programme to some.

^^

What this person said. Don't get me wrong I enjoy it. But not to the degree that it appears everyone else does.

well johnny depp turned the part down and up til about a week or so before filming, martin clunes was supposed to be doing it i think

If Clunes was owt like he was in Doctor Cunt, he would have been awesome. Oh be quiet you FUCKING cybermen, can't you see the surgery is fucking closed you COCKS?

Thing is, the Doctor Who crew always ask the huge names first - on the grounds that they might as well ask, even if there's only a snowball's chance in hell that the actor will say yes. They originally went to Judi Dench for Queen Victoria in that werewolf one, for instance. And they asked Hugh Grant if he wanted to play the Doctor when the series was first revived. Depp was clearly a long shot; even when he did The Fast Show he only did, what, two scenes? The Next Doctor was a lead role in a major shoot.

And, TBH, if they'd got Depp, they wouldn't have been able to do the whole "is-he-going-to-be-the-next-Doctor-or-not?" thing they've been doing for the last few months, on the grounds that there's no fucking way Depp would spend three years making Doctor Who. On the other hand, it would've got about 15 bajillion viewers. :)

i'm not sure it was originally the intention to have the whole 'is he going to be the next doctor or not' thing anyway. as far as i could tell, it was only after morrissey was cast at extremely short notice (someone who conceivably could have been cast as the next doctor, as opposed to someone who blatantly couldn't, like depp or clunes) that things developed in such a way that the audience would be left guessing for weeks. as it turns out, the whole 'will he wont he' thing worked pretty well for getting a lot of coverage while still being pretty obvious to anyone who knew much about the show that it was a red herring and that tennant will be around for another year.
