dr who easter special

Yeah, I did quite enjoy it; I'm just a bit drunk so have to get annoyed at small mistakes.

I've just watched it. Very good, for what it is - children's television for Saturday teatime. Michelle Ryan was great.

People take it all too seriously and as a result miss out on why its so good. It's like Harry Potter. Treat it like adult telly or adult literature and theorise about it, and you will be disappointed.

hmm no. one of the great things about doctor who is that it allows adults to theorise when perhaps they normally wouldn't. There was nothing in this at all other "than they are just doing what they are meant to do/ i am a bit scared of caring for people" which has been done before and better.

Everyone knows the 200 runs from Raynes Park to Southfields and beyond, nowhere near Victoria.

Michelle Ryan looked lovely, as always, but was woefully underused.

It was a Pitch Black rip-off, no question, and those fly eyed aliens were laughable.
But it's a kids TV show, produced by the Beeb, so what did people expect??

The 200 thing was due to it be supposedly the 200th Doctor Who story.

Now, to the geekyness. The Worldwide Call Tariffs advert on the side of the bus was torn to hide the company name. I reckon that could be to do with the Archangel network again - and further Master based shenanhigans.

That really is excellent geekiness.

Nope - it's 'NEON'....

did you not watch doctor who confidential?

the tearing was pretty non-strategic.:D

If anyone watched Dr Who Confidential, the older bruv was mooching around in the background of some of the shots apparently :D

God it was shit.

Usual RTD cobblers - focusing the drama on the emotional interplay between the charcters and using the plot as mere set dressing - and he failed at that as the characters and emotional interplay was shallow and mawkish.

And do we really have to keep being told just how great the doctor is? (another very annoying RTD trait).

As for those saying 'it a kids programme' - its being judged by its own lights, as a popular sci-fi adventure. At its best it can be gripping, imaginative, fightening, poignent, satirical and moving - the easter specila was none of these.

Its was dull, tired, cliched and mawkish.

Much preferred the Xmas episode.

God that was piss poor.

A flying London bus, Lara Croft, blokes wearing fly masks & Lee Evans as a bumbling keerraazzzy scientist?

Fucks Sake

We watched it on i-player yesterday afternoon (I always forget about i-player, I think that's the first time I've used it to watch anything). Twas quite entertaining for a bank holiday afternoon.

It was alright actually, although yes, Ryan was a bit of a rubbish companion and the story was a bit thin on the ground. Still watchable though and on the plus sde, the next one on Mars looks ace.

Oh, and I've just read on Wiki that Bernard Cribbins is going to be the Doctor's companion in the last two episodes at Christmas.

John Simm redux?
course it is the master didn't die in the etcha sketch end of the world with donna did he... besides if you hide out at the end of time there's no dieing before that point no matter what happens to your corporial form by returning to another point in time prior to the end of time... see so in essence hiding out at the end of time means he's immortal for all time... quite clever each possible universe according to quantum mechanics will have alternate course dependant on individual actions...

it can't be the darleks again we've done that to death so it has to be the master and it'll be John Sim hopefully with out a regeneration to a spotty yoot like the Dr regen... or it'll really jump the shark...

Michelle Ryan was sminky however but utterly unconvincing and seem way to turned on and giggly school girl at being able to be in an episode and play along side tennants dr, lee evans a commidian i cannot stand, proves once again his talent isn't in stand up but charchter acting and to my mind out acted tennent...

as for RTD writing ffs man stop writing women charchters you cannot do it you really can't why are they all bright eyed falling for the dr types or ice madien no one can touch me sterotypes... and stop with your fucking diologue scitck of making a charichter say what they are going to do confrim they are doing the thing they were going to do and then saying they've just done the thign they were going to do these triplets of dialouge leaves nothing up to the imagination i know it's for kids but ffs they don't need speaking too like they are 2 years old.... why not use gaga googoo language if you are going to patronise your audience that much... and the doctorwocktor saidiwed ... ffs RTD you might have revise the fortunes of this frnacise but seriously stop fuckign over the legacy you helped rebuild...

Caught up with the show, it was ok- better than any of the other specials.

Im no fan of Michelle Ryan, but I thought her character would have made an interesting assistant.

However, Lee Evans fair stunk up the scenes he was in. I just wanna cut him when he does his 'Lee Evans comedy face'(c).

The flying bus thing was wince-some but I enjoyed all the film references. RTD missed a trick- the planet needed some Tremors type sand beasties.

And do we really have to keep being told just how great the doctor is? (another very annoying RTD trait).
I hate that too, its so ham fisted.

There have been so few opportunities for David Tennant to play both light and shade, its mostly just gormless caracature now. Hopefully the next incarnation will get more to do.
