Dr Who 22-04

unfotunately its very like scrappy doo , but its got a lazer......

and it will give me another reason to shout at the telly when i remember how annoying he used to be ;)

Nothing like that cunt Scrappy Doo, everyone loved K-9, because he killed things.

Is it just me that finds it annoying that the new Doctor Who is a lot more sexualised than it used to be? Russell T Davis seems to have really upped the sexual chemistry/tension between the doctor and the assistant. And the end goodbye bit with Sarah Jane saying "there was a man once..." to a crescendo of strings was a bit excruciating.

The doctor and his assistants aren`t meant to fancy each other!

I`m certainly not prudish :p ....getting old maybe.

Maybe I`m just nostalgic for the good old days of watching it in my childhood.

i think my dad must've secretly fancied eccleston or something,
'cos he got all grumpy when he quit and muttered something along the lines of ...
"that's it, they've ruined it, i'll never watch THAT again!":D

Oh come on, it's hardly surprising the dr has got a bit of a boner. After all, he's the last of hs race, his subconscious is probably running riot with messages about reproduction.

I think they have handled the sexual tension between the Dr and Rose really well. The first Dr once threatened to spank his granddaughters bottom. Now that is just wrong! But last night's episode (I watched it tonight on BBC3) was a bit well, shit really. I agree with you about the ending. The headmaster was good.

But it was in the 60s, there's a vast cultural change since then. I think William Hartnell was brilliant, completely mad old geezer. It was so dark, gothic, then. Sprogs had good reason to hide behind the sofa.
The headmaster was good.
The headmaster was leery, sleazy, smug and utterly vile. He deserves a better part as a villain as soon as they write one.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that this season's "Bad Wolf" (ie Torchwood) is just gonna be one long advertisment for the new BBC series rather than build upto something actually important like the last season???

And more to the point, why do I keep saying "season" instead of "series"?! Damn you E4

I thought it was top - best epsiode of the new series so far. My 6 year old daughter loveed it (remember folks, it is primarily a kids programme).

Nice pop at the education system (kids being crammed with information to serve someone eleses agenda).

And great from a kids point of view - scary headmaster and teachers who get their just desserrts, ramraiding the school doors, geeky kid setting off the fire alarm and ending up with half the school blowing up ('kenny!' 'Kenny!' 'Kenny!').

Plus great character interplay and oneliners.

Its not supposed to be serious drama or full on horror. Its family entertainment with incredibly broad appeal - I can sit on the sofa with my kids and my parents and we can all be thoroughly entertained - and that makes it a work of genius.

I thought Giles from buffy was spot on as well. Reminded me of Tony Blair - but not quite as scary.

Cybermen soon!

it got the pingu flipper of approval

though one thing does bug me though, and has done since the new series began. The tardis. the interor is just wrong.

Would someone tell me please - if The Doctor is a Time Lord and immortal - why is he the last one?

i've watched the last 2 episodes and i'm enjoying it, did anyone else think it was a little tear jerking at the end of saturday's episode with k9 and that

or was that just me

Yeah, if it wasn't for Torchwood then they'd be hacking into the UNIT computer instead.

The "it sucks being immortal while all my birds get old & peg it" theme is a steal from somewhere but I can't think where. Some Dracula film?

Both "Hook" and "Highlander"

I expect it was the latter you were thinking of ;)
