Dr Hamlet

Hee. I'm seeing both too. But not Hamlet until after Christmas I think. :(

In London?

We bought tickets for the London run for some friends, then found out the in-laws had tried to get tickets, without success. Would have got them some if we'd known, but.. <shrug>

well fuck me - that was stunningly good! Everyone in it was damned good, and quite a few absolutely superb.

Polonius stole the first half, and Gertrude just became better and better as the whole thing progressed. Loads of the more minor characters were brilliantly done, loved the players' roadie, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern were just right (well, except for when bloody Guildestern was stood in front of Claudius for the play within the play within the play, that was a bit annoying), Horatio another superb one.

I've not actually having seen or read any version of the play before (I watched the first two acts of the BBC version, but god it was soooooo bad I had to stop) but it's such a famous story i was fairly sure I knew pretty much what happened. So when the interval came at that moment I was, like, wtf? I didn't think that happened! Not yet anyway. How they get them back there for part two without anyone seeing, gawd knows.

Anyone who says Tennant can't act after seeing that is an utter fuck-witted moron, twas a performance of massive wit, grave, tenderness and subtlety. Cunt almost made me cry at the end.

My other fave moment was when one of the blokes sat behind us said to his mate, just before the second half began, 'so, that bloke from Star Trek killed Dr Who's dad then.....'. Class :)

zooo, if you can't make it do let me have your ticket, well worth seeing again ,and again.

Oh god I can't wait now!! And don't worry, I shall be making it, even if between now and then I fall pregnant and am giving birth at the time, I shall be going.

Yup!

<debates making some poncy comment about how it's best seen in the birthplace of the great man himself>

Damn.. wish I was seeing it in London!!!

Ha!
Well, I am seeing him in Loves Labours Lost (I don't know where the apostrophes go in that) in Stratford. Would have been cool to see Hamlet there too though.

I am just scared that the days I go, he'll be ill and have a stand in or something. Oh gawd, how painful would that be? :)

very! The guy who played Laertes is his understudy, and he was good, but no Davey boy.

twas a performance of massive wit, grave, tenderness and subtlety.
wtf did i mean by 'grave'?
