Dr Feelgood: did they rock or what?

Immediately pre-punk they were very big, at least in the UK. They'd moved up out of the clubs into the big theatres by about 1975. Then Wilco quit and they fizzled just about the same time punk started happening (from what I recall)

I think they had their biggest hit after he left: "Milk and Alcohol."

Never knew that much about them really, but a great documentary and the first time I have ever seen Canvey Island on TV. Doc on The Fall was on afterwards, what a contrast, miserable old bugger he is.

Brilliant live band, saw them countless times. My claim to fame is me and my mates are in the crowd on Stupidity. Though it was Dr Feelgood I blame for me seeing Mink Deville, who were supporting them.
Seen Wilko several times later with the Blockheads, Solid Senders and his own band.
Outstanding and will always be remembered as one of my favourite live acts.

I also hope Wilko received lots of sponsorship from H&H as he was, I believe, responsible for a spike in sales of their amplifiers in South Yorkshire in the mid-seventies.

Love those vids posted. Very jealous of anyone who saw them live back in the day. I was still in me' pram

Love this version of Roxette on the Old Grey Whistle Test - faster than the released version - and better for it!

Spool on to 55seconds if you just want the music :)
