dr david hon ( dahon ) bike story

I hit 44mph on mine! It was wobbling like a jelly vibrator.

I once got thrown over my handlebars when I was 12 after riding over a huge stone that came out of nowhere, so I did 30 the other day looking like I was auditionigg for a Wallace and Grommit film :D

How the hell did you get up to 45?! Were you being towed or something?!

I was hurtling down a big hill in Cornwall. I had to lower my body right down and pedalled like fuck. I probably could have squeezed a few more mph out of the thing if I hadn't started to consider things like, well, living a bit longer.

The Dahon Jetstream has got quite a high gear so it can motor you along a fair bit.

My friend got a 2008 Vitesse.
On the cycle home from Evans.. The stem became very lose.
So they brought it to me & I looked it over and discovered that the locking mechanism in the folding stem had a faulty part.. Basically a cracked plastic block. Absolutely shit engineering & design. We took the bike Back to Evans the next day & they pretended to fix it.
So we complained & made a noise about their crappy policies & got the money back..
A bit of web searching & I discovered that all These models: Dahon Vitesse D7’s, Boardwalk D7’sMu XL’s and Mu XL Sports were all called back for having faulty stems blocks..
Except Evans Had carried on flogging them.. I hate Evans. I really do.

Don't get me started! Their only positive is that they have a shop I can see from my office window and they are shit hot at price matching pretty much anything.

My firm did their ride2work thingy with them and when I went to make the purchase one Saturday at the Spitalfields branch they didn't even acknowledge me or serve for a stupid amount of time. And when they did they couldn't have been less interested, knowledgeable or helpful, even (or that should probably be especially) when I mentioned I had a cheque for £800 odd to spend there.

I just put it down to the fact that I was wearing clothing that didn't reveal my religion and footwear that didn't double as tap dancing shoes

Now I just look at everythign online and hope they have it in stock there so I can pick it up and let them price match.

i'm pretty sure i've made my dislike for them clear, it has only bloomed to fully fledged hatred in the last few months though. a customer warrantied a low end model after it started spontaneously folding while he was riding, he was given one that retails for twice what he paid originally and he hates it... fairplay if you like them, there's no accounting for taste...

Don't hate it in a fully fledged manner its an inanimate object, a commercial product...and its the start of the weekend
