the tension is just unremitting. Your reactions and emotions are all over the shop - the film is so unjudgemental that you catch yourself feeling sympathy then remembering who these people are. Just relentless.
Yep it definitely toys with you, drags you in there's a twinge of sympathy and then you realise he's just ordered a mass execution while playing with his kids. The scene with their kids near the end really, really upset me...
it's really well done also the way it exposes the kind of peer pressure element of the whole situation, and perhaps by implication the whole ideology. Nobody wants to be the first to crack
