Dollhouse - new Whedon series

Can she get me Eliza Dushku's phone number?

Please.

In a related story, my ex-girlfriend was at a garden party with Olivia Williams' (who plays Adelle DeWitt) mother last week, she wouldn't get me Eliza's number either :(

Just got the DVD and watched Epitaph One - whoah

Oh, and Felicia Day = WIN () :D

Not sure how much of that episode will affect the 2nd Season, but well looking forward to it now.

Started wobbly, ended brilliantly.

I actually want to punch scientist imprinter bloke, punch him fucking hard in the balls.

And scarface medical woman? yeah OK whedon I'm backing away slowly now that the only non passive female is scarred in the face badly..

Dewitt is far from passive. Actually, Dushku's character isn't really passive either.

Plus once you've watched the last few episodes, the scarring is a fairly important plot point.

Have only seen the pilot and found it rather meh. It looks like it improve after a while so I may try and watch a few more episodes before I give up.

Pilot is pretty poor, episodes 2-5 are middling in quality (episode 3 is not great), but if you look at them as building up the characters before a kick-ass second half, it's good tv.

The original pilot was a lot better. It steamed through plot points that took nearly 6 episodes of the series to get through. The active engagements are only incidental to the plot and it jumps straight into the overall arc. Echo and Ballard meet in the first episode, he guesses that she is a doll and she shoots him. If Fox had allowed that to be shown a lot of people would not have switched off for ep 2. The one that aired was significantly dumbed down.

I hated buffy (apart from the musical one) and liked firefly. Will I like this?

Or should I just buy doctor horrible?

It's probably closer to Firefly in tone than Buffy (more 'morally grey' areas), so you may like it.

As said before, it takes a while to get going, so don't come on here after 3 or 4 eps and say it's shit :D

Oh, and you should buy Dr Horrible as well (I currently have a huge crush on Felicia Day, thanks in part to this and 'The Guild')

Series 2 is a big improvement IMO. Finally starting to see some characters appearing, and they've done a good job turning Ballard into one of the wrong 'uns.

Apollo and Colonel Tigh have both cropped up as well

Is anyone here still watching this? Season 2 is an ENORMOUS improvement. We just watched six episodes back to back because we couldn't wait to see what happened next. The show got cancelled and, instead of giving up or scrabbling for a last-minute reprieve, Whedon and co decided to do the whole damn story arc in 13 episodes. And it works - good God, it works. I'm not being very eloquent here because it has got to that level of great TV where all you can do is sit back and go 'what? Nonono! He did that? Sooo good!' and then speculate endlessly about what's going to happen next.

But I can't do the latter because most of you probably haven't seen it. I would seriously recommend starting with either episode 6 of season 1, or just starting with season 2 and not worrying too much about backstory - you'll catch up.
