I was like you for a while then after several threads on here managed to find out a bit more about pete:

Pete Doherty was in a band called the Libertines. They were acclaimed by the critics and Cheesypoof although most urban posters did not think them very talented. I'd never heard them which was suprising given the amount of coverage doherty gets. It seemed that his coverage was way out of proportion to his actual talent. Doherty is also is a band called Babyshambles, again a band that never seems to get any coverage on the radio. Listened to the radio for 7 months at work, every day nearly. NEVER heard Babyshambles, heard Libertines once. After this a lot of threads appeared on urban and can be summarised as follows:

Cheesypoof: raves about pete

pretty much Everyone else: swears and slags off pete

Anyone else: wonders wtf is going on
