i think black sunday is blatantly aimed at the pop audience whereas snoop is just snoop

nowt wrong with a bit of hippop, the beats are still sick even tho a lot of the samples are cheesy

it's not cypress hill at their best, it's a bit like that one Nas did (street dreams?) sort of an advert for them aimed at the mainstream

does anyone like any snoop recored other then doggy style? I reckon im forgetting an album somewhere but i honestly can't think of another decent one.

Cypress hill i like at least another 3.

Nope, Snoop's albums are a mess of half formed ideas and lazy raps inbetween some okay singles. I'd say a good 80% of his output is best left well alone.

As for this poll....Doggystyle all the way. Black Sunday, as already mentioned, isn't Cypress' best album

what does everyone reckon is the hills best album?

I've really been feeling iv recently. But would normally say either black sunday or temples of boom.

dave

temples of boom for me. it's the only one that they did that was really serious. the first 4 are all decent, but temples of boom is just much better produced and better lyrically than the other ones

it's also much better for smoking weed to

I just found this thread late :(

During my stoner days I used to listen to Doggy Style everytime I bought a bag of weed. It's just something about those basslines that automatically make my head bop, lips pucker, and arms sway like a typical skinny white kid trying to be gangster. It's not the best rap album, but certainly my favourite.

Both great, but "Doggystyle" edges it for me. Snoop's drawl was just born for Dre's G-Funk beats of the time.

A more tricky call is "Doggystyle" vs "The Chronic". The latter is more consistent tune-wise for me, but the former has Snoop throughout.

The Chronic has better rapping but way to many long skits for it to be better than Doggystyle.

Snoops best album was Doggystyle, Cypress Hills best album was Temples of Boom. If it was Temples of Boom vs Doggystyle the answer would be beyond obvious.

As it is it's quite easy to pick holes in the likes of Black Sunday......although...... "A to the K?...."

The ones I've heard are OK, mainly because of Snoop's drawl. However, like so many MCs he doesn't stick with one producer for the whole album so it lacks the continuity of "Doggystyle", "The Chronic", "...Compton", "Black Sunday", "Supa Dupa Fly", etc. Oh and of course "36 Chambers", which is the best album ever, regardless of genre.

i'd pick either liquid swords or tical 0: the prequel or possibly gza & muggs grandmasters if that counts as solo.

Actualy why the fuck haven't i re downloaded that bad boy?:mad: complete discography my arse.

Being a Wu completist is pretty hard, considering all the side projects they've had and the guest spots they've done, especially Ghost, Meth and ODB when he was around.

yeah but not having grandmasters is a complete tragedy means i don't have advance pawns. I fookin love that tune.

I have a ridiculous ammount of wutang + sides and stuff.

I think it's a bit weird to have them in the same poll. Wasn't Black Sunday such a sort of indie club rap album? Whereas Doggystyle wasn't really.

:hmm:

I have a friend who is the absolute spit of snoop dog. It' gets ridiculous, wherever you go with him you can guarantee someone will shout 'alright snoop!' as he walks past, at least once.

rock fans and stoners love em thats for sure. But they are fairly well respected in hip hop from what i can work out. Certainly work with a hell of a lot of very respetcable people.

dave

Yeah - not saying they weren't, just that they had a far far bigger crossover appeal than Snoop IMO.

In 1993-1994 they used to play 3-4 Cypress Hill songs on any given night at an indie/rock/metal club, but I don't recall ever hearing any Snoop songs at one.

I love their two collaborations with Sonic Youth and Pearl Jam on the Judgement Night soundtrack.

Sugar come back, get me high...
