Does your work have a lunch/food policy?

I always eat by my desk. Saying that I'm taking an hour today to go to Waggamamas for a lunch date with the gf.

I dribble my lunch over my keyboard whilst reading bbc news and scowling at the inevitable muppets who keep interrupting me to ask tedious questions.

That people work in such relaxed environments. :)

I seeeee! My office is pretty cool really I have to say....we can virtually come and go as we please as long as we don't take the piss and are there when we are needed. Cuts both ways though because we're expected to stay late when required as well....

I do wish people wouldn't heat up fishy food in the microwave though cos then the whole place stinketh :o

We get free cereal as well - and free fruit every day.

I work with traders, they get and get to do whatever they want. And relaxed aint a word I'd use to describe the environment. To spend an hour eating lunch would be a sin for them.

We get half hour for lunch unpaid but dont actually take an allocated 1/2 hr break - hactually we dont take any allocated breaks, i'm the only smoker and feel guilty if i nip out, sometimes i only have one quick rollie all day,

Same here, sometimes id really like to leave the office and go stare at the canal instead of a screen, but im bound to miss calls/meetings/young people if i do so i stay chained to my desk unless im doing a workshop/meeting ect

joys of working in a charity aye.

Lunch in my office is as lax as everywhere else it seems, eat when and where we like (people only ever complain if someone eats fish).

I'm half way with thinking this is a good/bad thing. We're entitled to a lunch break but it's not enforced and I'd say most people don't take time out from their work. I often see people who don't eat lunch until 3 in the afternoon because they're killing themselves working.

I've always been pretty good at eating at regular times and try to structure my work so I can do that but sometimes it's impossible and I quickly start to feel shit. Working round North MAnchester doesn't help, the choice of take away food is limited and never healthy.

:) Yeah specially when its all nice and sunny outside (our office is dark and dingy:( even when its blazing hot outside)

Why don't you put the office phone on divert and have a little sit by the canal:cool:

I bet theres some good job satisfaction working for a charity!:)

Our 'official' lunch hour is 1-2pm but I often pop out 12.30/12.45 to do whatever bits and pieces I need to do in town then come back to eat... neatly coinciding with my boss popping out to do stuff thus extending the hour by half an hour or so... ;)

Zenie! i just ate a Goast Cheese, Rocket and Spinach pizza at my desk. now i am off for a ciggie and a can of drink.

just so you know like :)

Out at 12 either to eat or buy lunch then back at 12.30 to pour most of it over my keyboard and I faff about on here until aout 2.00. Public sector role of course - sometimes you have to count your blessings.

I almost never have the time to go out for lunch. But I try to get a bit of sun when I'm out in the Dubai office.

We work with vulnerable young people so weve all got the 'if i dont answer the phone someone might die' fear :D im not allowed to divert to my mobile because of safeguarding

but today i decided to change my lunch, went out shopping for supplies for tomorrow nights workshop (which was classed as work time) and then went and sat in the kitchen with my colleague for a quick sarnie, which meant i could pop out for a fag after, i didnt get to stare at owt interesting but i did see some interesting bus passengers :D ;)
