Does your cleaner do this...?

I'd reccomend putting your important papers in a red tray marked important.

That is actually a really good and obvious tip. TYVM, will give it a go for sure.

Every time she does it ring immigration and get one of her relatives deported.

I don't understand, she is a EU National and has every right to live and work in this Country should she wish

make her spend more time in the basement till she sees the error of her ways

I haven't got a basement and I am pretty sure that would count as abuse and not really my style.

Clean your own house?

I am just no good at it tbh. I am however very good at washing up.

I know! "advice me". It's ADVISE you half-wit.

Try spelling it out, Nugget, whilst banging her head on the desk. Works with my help.

You could also ask derf what he does.

Sue me.

You're all predictable meanies. Some people have cleaners, get over it.

OP, force yourself to be more organised and put all your important papers in a box file, and shred any unimportant papers.

Thanks Enid. I do really need to be much more organised and realise that whilst I may feel able to exist within the laws of the chaos theory, there is a lot to be said for a smidge of clarity.

Throw away really important papers and documents

No matter how many times we go through the "please do not throw any papers away" convo'

I really appreciate the fact that she seems to be able to keep my house in a state that I couldn't and believe me I do try but there are just some things she does that really bugs me. If I was going to start listing them, I would be in here ranting for a while but this isn't a thread about disrespect, I am just at my wits end.

Can you please advice me on how to avoid this in the future because it has been happening for 2yrs and short of sacking her I am at a loss
she's not been throwing your important papers away, she's been stealing them to order...;)

either that or she's put them neatly in a safe place but deliberately failed to tell you about it so you'll blow up at her / sack her, then she can show you the safe place, and sue you for wrongful dismissal / have great make up sex then sue you for sexual harrassment.

one of the two I reckon:hmm:

i want a cleaner. i am due to go back to working 5days a week next month, and would love it if a cleaner could come in just one day a week to get the order back in my flat ready for the weekend so i can relax with my family

i would even put my important papers away somewhere safe it it made it easier for them

I never thought I could afford a cleaner but I figured out how much I could afford and then placed an ad on gumtree. I read something a while ago on the economy of time and I am not ashamed to say I have someone to help around the house because I know that I make more per hour and if I was to spend the time she does cleaning, I would be down a lot more than I was paying out. I haven't explained it very well but it did make perfect sense.

She does 1 day a week for 3hrs and I can't imagine doing without her now. Whenever she goes on holiday for more than 2wks I actually despair!

I miss my cleaner. :(

Well, I still see her socially but she doesn't do my cleaning. In fact, the cow will come round for a drink and watch me tidy up.

oh, great, hillarious! just like threats via pm!
<shuffles along, nothing to see here mumblemumble>
What?

It was a joke. Clearly a joke. And unless there's something you're not telling us about your household staff, not directed at you.

No not at all like that.
The post you quoted is what is known as 'exageration of the opposing view' which is a common rhetorical trick designed to make a view seem ridiculous.
If you genuinely thought the poster was being racist, then I suggest you examine your sense of humour.

well that'd be me told, again!
hey, why not edit me and my posts outta this thread...

Nugget in "sense of humour failure". No one called you a cunt, count yourself lucky ;)

A question for people with cleaners: Are you in while they are cleaning, or do you make a point of being out?

I used to do house cleaning (might do it again) and I dislike it a LOT when they're there. Especially when they follow you around with the impression they'd do a better job.

Or just sit there and make you clean round them. Or go and mess up what you've just cleaned

Ooh, there is an interesting question.

I don't think I would want to be in, because I would be embarrassed and feel lazy. I would have to emphasise my bad back by grunting in pain a lot, or appear to be working very hard at the computer, or something.

However, I don't know how I would feel about someone poking around in my house in my absence, even if I completely trusted them. I don't really like it when my boyfriend's father comes round to feed the cats (nor when the really expensive cat feeder person came round the other weekend!), but I kind of believe that they will not be poking around my stuff. A cleaner is encouraged to do so.

Also, a cleaner would find out what a complete slob I am, and I would be far too embarrassed ever to look them in the face, so I would have to make sure never, ever to meet them. Could be tricky.

Hmm - all these difficulties. Whoever would have thought employing staff would be so complicated and angst ridden?

In my case they were almost always out, at work, except for the two women who just had babies who were in, obviously. I even took their babies out for a little stroll so they could have a break. :)

Some of the people I worked for were really nice and I chose to work as a cleaner rather than in a bar/restaurant: the pay was better for starters, and so were the hours. Great job if you're student IMO.

My cleaner, my cleaner ?

I am my cleaner?

No I don't chuck important papers but I do move everything, just a little, its a trick another cleaner told me because it makes it look as if you have been more thorough if everything has been moved.

I hate cleaning!

I would love to have a cleaner!
