The dingaling sound would wake me up every time she came in the room. It had to go.

He didn't need a bell for that. He just stood on my face at every morning at 5 am when he got bored/wanted breakfast.

More Persians are the way forward for wildlife. Mine has spent over two months attempting to catch a toad in our small walled garden. The toad is thriving. The cat is now scared to go out in the garden cos the toad hit her.

I want a cat again. :(

Why don't you get one ?

I lost my cat earlier this year, and it really fucking hurts me so much still. I don't think I can ever have another cat ever again.

Oh-and I was told by RSPCA person that bells are really bad for cats as the noise they make masks the sound of traffic when they are crossing roads

I know what you mean-when my 17 year old cat died, felt nothing could ever replace him and would not be fair-I got my rescue persian about a year later and love her to bits-do think best to leave it a while-people don't tell someone who's lost a child to have another one instantly. However if you hear of a rescue cat in need of a home then might be a good thing to do.

At the moment I never know where I'll be in two years time.

Sorry to hear about your cat. :(

If you read all the way to the bottom (I did as I was interested in buying them) it mentions that they were trying to get the collars to STOP beeping when the cats got home but couldn't "We have abandoned the system based on mains hum and are now developing a device that responds to radio signals. We will keep you posted on how this development is progressing"
Aw bollocks :(

Ace photo moose :D

Our cat doesn't wear a collar. She had a few but they all ended up lost. We gave up.
She's a mouser anyway. Our garden birds are more at danger from the regular visits of mrs sparrowhawk, but seeing as there was at last two sets of chicks(sparrows, various tits, blackies and robin afaik) this year I'm not overly concerned.

When we used to have a cat we had a collar with a bell but the ringing confused him. I can't see what the problem is with cats catching animals, it's what they do.

Have three cats, all neutered toms .
Clarence the ginger, cross eyed, (anyone remember Daktari?)softie wears his collar with bell no problem.

Salem ,the large black one who is his litter brother seems to think collars are some sort of escapoligist excercise. We have lost count how many we have bought ,fitted and mysteriously lost where he is concerned. we put one on him and he comes back without it EVERY BLOODY TIME!!!!! lol

Mini me , who was a stray and who looks exactly like salem but smaller hence his name, is just not into collars full stop. Have scars to prove it!

Not quite Meatloaf but one out of three ain't bad lol

I think it's a bit cruel to make a cat wear a bell. Ideally it's better if they don't have a collar too, but I guess that can be a prob if they go missing.

It must be so irritating for the poor buggers, having something tinkling round their necks all the time! They must learn to ignore it, but still...

Ours don't seem to mind, and they have to wear collars so that we can have a magnetic cat-flap to stop other cats from coming in and nicking their food/traumatising the poor wee beaties.
