Does anyone still make homemade desserts?

strawberry flan

you will need
flan base = 1
strawberries = about 20 maybe more or less dependant on size of flan base and strawberries
quick gel = 1 packet of
hot water - to make up quick gel
one fridge - to set it in
condensed milke - to pour over your slice (optional)

but tonight, madge and i are having banana custard

I don't usually make desserts - just cos I don't really have that much of a sweet tooth - but when I do, my Tiramisu generally sets pulses racing. I am ashamed to say the recipe comes courtesy of one A Worral-Thompson but most people don't hold that against me.

fruit salad is a good'un

even better with ice cream

or just ice cream with rice krispies and honey on

steamed golden syrup pudding is the fucking best.

wait, no. backberry and apple crumble with custard is the fucking best.

wait... no... everything is the fucking best :) well except for stuff that's not the best.

I have decided on this not so 70's chocolate mousse, from the smug-c*nt, but jolly good cook, Nigella Lawson :)

Serves 4-6

150g mini marshmallows

50g soft butter

250g good dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa solids), chopped into small pieces

60ml hot water from a recently boiled kettle

1 x 284ml tub double cream

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 Put the marshmallows, butter, chocolate and water in a heavy-based saucepan.

2 Put the saucepan on the hob, over heat, though keep it fairly gentle, to melt the contents, stirring every now and again. Remove from the heat.

3 Meanwhile, whip the cream with the vanilla extract until thick, and then fold into the cooling chocolate mixture until you have a smooth, cohesive mixture.

4 Pour or scrape into four glasses or ramekins, about 175ml each in capacity, or six smaller (125ml) ones, and chill until you want to eat. The sooner, the better!

I'll report back on its ease/taste combo. Thank you for all your advice !

i make awesome apple cake :D (i dont make it awesome, its just great cake)

Well, it was a peace of piss to make and very tasty but so rich we all felt majorly sick after! I topped mine with chopped strawberries.. mmmm.

It does come out quite runny when you first make it (which it didnt on the programme!) but a couple of hours in the fridge and it was perfect.

Recommended for chocoholics!

:)
