Does anyone else thing 'Spaced' is crap?

Poor Hollis must've seen the second series :(
Mate, it's like judging Star Wars from the second lot

NO. The dialogue has some real gems, like this one currently on another spaced thread

Daisy: Do you rent downstairs?

Brian: Do you mean am I gay?

Daisy: What?

Brian: Do you mean am I gay?

Daisy: No, no I meant are you renting the downstairs flat?

:)

Yes that's funny.. but a good sitcom int just made up of dialogue is it. I just don't think the actings particularly good.. wooden is how I'd describe it.. imho.

Anyway... I shall try another episode.

It was Ok-ish but all rather forgettable. It's very odd cannonisation on U75 leaves me totally baffled, and the fact it won the best ever sit-com poll ahead of Father Ted makes me very angry.

Seems like you have a bit of a hair trigger temper there. I'll be very careful if I ever meet you in real life. :)

I am merely proud of the British Isles' long tradition in great TV comedy, from Python through the Young Ones, Blackadder, Patridge and Ted. For Spaced to be thought of as in any way better than these makes me worried for future generations.

well, it's deffo better than the young ones & partridge imo. and i'm still enjoying watching it more than the repeats of father ted, which aren't doing much for me anymore, sadly.

of course, nothing will equal python.

well, not the good bits of python, which are the only ones we remember.

"Monty Python died for us. Frequently."

Hmm... how many sitcoms have really good acting?

Anyway, while I'm not quite as enamoured of Spaced as some on here, I did really enjoy it (but only saw about 5 episodes).

It's a bit like watching the first season of blackadder. You remember it being so great and a breath of fresh air to comedy at the time.

Watch it now and its hard to remember why you thought it was so good.

I feel the same about spaced, I remember watching it when it came out and i remember it being great. now I have watched it again recently and I have not been all that impressed.

Monty Python was very hit and miss, the first series of I'm Alan Partridge was consistantly funnier. The best thing that any of the Pythons did, apart for Grail and Brian, was Ripping Yarns, now that was bloody funny. Spaced is Gold.

There's nothing that pisses me off more than people on here who vehemently assert that a TV series is crap only after watching one episode.

A la Cid with Peep Show and now Hollis with Spaced.

Just sort it out, mate.

Peep show = Radiohead... nuff said :(

Spaced is genius though.

Spaced is great, but so is Peepshow. Its one of the few shows that keeps getting better and and better with each series.

I actually think Peep Show gets worse each series - series 3 only really had one episode (the "mark's sister" one) that ranks amongst the highlights of series 1 and 2. Still pretty good though, cos the characters remain naturally amusing.

And frankly, if you don't find the "payback" episode of series 1 or the "orgy" episode of series 2 funny then you simply don't have a sense of humour.

I know its abit like insulting the Pope round here... but I've now watched an episode of it. Its shite!

:)
No offence, but there is something deeply, deeply wrong with you.

I just saw the whole lot over the weekend on DVD.

The first series for the first time not under more of an influnce than a glass of supermerket plonk and the second series for the first time ever.

Maybe it was the lack of the original company watching it with me (yousknowsitBristolites) but the first series didn't seem quite as god as i remember it but still hilarious.

The second series had its highpoints: Tyres for example and the classic "you can't drink a pint of Bovril" BUT on the whole confirmed the "rule" that British comedy declines as it continues and perhaps an encapsulation of a moment can't be repeated.

The VERY end I found disjointed and shite, it just kind of ended confirming in a VERY pedestrian way that Daisy was more important to Tim than the lass from the comic company (where she come from anyway?)
