Does anyone care about music anymore?

you are not doing anything to help struggling bands. all yr doing is trying to make money for yourself, there is nothing wrong with that but don't pretend that by not buying records off you i'm somehow contributing to bands giving up music. i tell you what i am just about to take an afternoon off work to go pay for a taxi to move a band's equipment then the next few hours setting up playing for free just so that people can enjoy it then packing everything up and paying for another taxi to move the stuff back while everyone is having a good time so don't tell me i don't care about music. you're just making money off the back of other people's hard work.

I am thinking of becoming a pimp

If downloading had been around in the days of punk nobody would have bought any records then either- the predictions of music dying back then turned out to be a little premature.

i have to disagree with that, tho it depends which era punk you are talking about.
the eraly 80s punk scene was quite serious, especially with al lthe anarchopunk bands. perosnally, i wouldnt buy a record back then unless i got lyrics and all sorts of information with it, and i think many people were like that, it was more than just ,music :)

trev, i do wnat some of that stuff, im just crap at getting my act together!

Woahh i'm getting excited now - could this be number 2?!!!
Yeah i agree totally with ya, i don't think most of the others on here can grasp that though. Even bands i didn't really like that much (apart from first few singles) like The Apostles, had some great sleeves

yes it is. put us in it then

I usually approach the bands i like, but who you? I like people who give good answers (Oi Polloi, Attila the Stockbroker for example) or i take the chance on bands who's music i like (mainly 77 style, Oi)

No wonder you're having trouble selling records

I have a big list of cheap punk goodies at rock bottom prices.

They care about music. They just don't care about punk.

Its not the 80s anymore. Get with the times. :p

People like digital media now so that they can carry their entire collection around with them. So yeah downloands are popular. You don't have to be signed to Sony to get your track on iTunes. Independant bands make it onto there too.

I think you are out of step with the modern music industry if you think people aren't interested in music anymore. Look at any poll of top ten of things people say they can't go without and you'll see iPod high on list.

i think youve probably been selling records and doing zines for years (and puting on gigs?) longer than some of the people on here have been able to walk ha ha ha

Ta for the compliment!! Doesn't get me any more kudos than those looking for arguments on forums though ha ha

strictly vinyl only

didn't really understand the last bit you said

Couldn't get on the first band site (i have old computer which freezes a lot on My Space) but i liked the faster songs of The Spivs. Reminds me of something you'd find on Damaged Goods or whats that small London label again, i have a memory like a seive...can't even remember the name of the band they remind me of ah thats it Henry fiats Open Sore or something?

If you want to know who and what killed the small independant record store I have one word for you.

Ebay.

If you read record collectors guide you'll see a huge rant about how Ebay has killed the record collectables industry with people who formally had shops themselves even switching to online trading.

I'm finally understanding why i didn't sell anything. That and the geezer with the No Use For a Name link

Heh, well, I also buy punk records too. I like punk. I also like almost every other genre out there too.
