in 2002 the band i was in played festivals in spain and portugal and one of the acts playing was nickleback. in portugal folk were chucking fucking rocks and loads of bottles at them. we had to go on stage afterwards and it took about 30 minutes before they decided the stage was clear enough for us to go on.
in spain a few nights later they got bottled off after the first couple of songs.
yea they're shite but we played with a lot of bands a damned sight more shite that summer (libertines for one). never met any of nickleback so can't comment on what they're like as people.
think it was just the 'done' thing to chuck stuff at them, as i remember it was for daphne and celeste when they played some festivals a few years before. which just showed what a bunch of wankers most of the crowd were as they were a million times better than the wet-arsed indie shit that was getting lapped up.

woah! yea, that was the fuckin festival. it was mad!! i'd got a bit mixed up, think that WAS pretty much a heavy metal festival apert from us and John Spencer Blues explosion (though we both went down great) - think slipknot were headlining and some mental band called Dimmur Borgir or something who all dressed up like monsters and acting well mental on stage, but we were staying at the same hotel as them and they were a bunch of cocks and not up for any scoring drugs or going on a mission robbing stuff.
think Hundred Reasons were staying there too. another bunch of dullards.
