Voley If you're happy and you know it, fuck off.

Well the softer leather version got the better of me and I've just bought my first pair of brand new DM's. 'Carpathian' is the style if that means anything to any of you. Same shape and all that. Ninety quid.

I Do Not Believe It. There has been a Dr Martens shop in Reading (where I work) for a month, and I didn't know about it.

I like the looks of them but can't imagine how you'd clean them. Are the hearts fluffy? :hmm:

I suspect I will clean them very carefully....

I've not seen them yet...they're in the post on their way...but I'll update here when they arrive.

Latest acquisition. Made in England, leather is gorgeously supple, fit perfectly. I confess I thought the blue was black when I saw them on eBay but for less than 40 quid inc delivery I'm a happy bunny!

Oh dear. these are a bit dull. but my excuse this time is that I need "smart office shoes for work" and given these were £185 new, (which I would never have paid) £60 quid inc postage is a decent result for a pair of MiEs. I have well got the hang of ebay tactics. Now, what's next?

OH just shakes his head, which is nice. If it was him being addicted instead of me I'd go mental.

I remember the days when I could have told you I only had 3 pairs of shoes.

I used to love my DM boots and then later I had some brown DM shoes also. Haven't had any for years, might consider some black DM shoes now though. Only think is I have size 13 feet and 13 DMs are big like boats :)

Well my current leather soled shoes are quite slippery on the work floor, perhaps DMs might be better / safer.

Actually, the shop assistant today was very good for a change. When I bought my new 1490s a few months ago, the shop assistant in the London shop asked me "Have you bought Docs before?". This was while I was taking off my 3989s in smooth black mono, that I had bought in the very same shop a few weeks before, whilst wearing a pair of 2976's.

The guy in the new shop in Reading today was straight off the mark with "if you are looking for a pair for work, like those 3989s you are wearing, then these will be good" . Fair play. (plain welt - yellow stitching is pushing it at my work, except on dress down Fridays) We even had a chat and agreed that they are not oxblood, whatever it says on the box and the website. He chucked in a free pot of Wonder Balsam too.

I'm sure I need some new socks.....

I'm very pleased to have scored a pair of hardly worn DM shoes from a charity shop (not even broken in!). Haven't had a pair for ages, the old ones, uk made, were always a bit too tight in my size or too big in the next size up. These new ones are cut a bit wider and are more comfey on the foot. Supprised to see that the cardbord insole is still used, that always seemed to disintegrete first before sole or uppers were worn out.

Added a pair of new old stock 1980s DM work steel toe work boots to the collection recently. Beautifully lined and extremely comfortable. From the Griggs factory, not NPS or Whites.
