Do you take a packed lunch to work ?

I've moved on from my über-adventurous cheese & pickle sarnies, and now take salad to work for lunch each day.

Well it is almost summer, after all.

There is nothing wrong with the mighty cheese and pickle sandwich!
I am however all about the mozzarella, tomato and pesto sarnie at the moment...

I take my own lunch to uni - food in the student shop is generally processed expensive muck, even the sandwiches and there is generally no decent fresh fruit. Even the canteen isn't much better and we've won a Gold Healthy Eating at Work Award!!

I've started buying an organic chicken (around £8) which does me my sunday evening meal, then sandwiches for the rest of the week (around 5-6) and I can make stock from the bones (about 2.5 pints), which is pretty good going I reckon.

There's a canteen at work that is quite reasonable and decent food, but by the end of the month I have to take a packed lunch. I cook a bit extra in the evening so I can take some in to work the next day. Monday it was veggie curry, today it was tuna pasta and tomorrow it is a fuckin hot veggie chile that burns beautifully and makes me sweat

Check this out then -

We'd drive to the supermarket and i'd normally get some bread rolls (enough for a few days) some cheese, salad stuff, veggie pate, fruit or whatever. All good i thought, sorted for at least the next three days, then i would walk into the kitchen and find someone cutting huge chunks off my nice mature cheddar for cheese on toast at 11am.

"Opps sorry didn't think it was yours, was the pate yours as well?"

What made me so so angry was the "didn't know it was yours" bit, so if it was my other colleagues it'd be alright then would it you dick!!!

The same guy opened my post when i was off one day, he saw it was from Amazon and borrowed the DVD i had bought

Me: "Thats weird, my Amazon order was supposed to be here yesterday"
Him: "Oh shit, sorry i borrowed it, i forgot to bring it back"

Cock!

Kill him in the face. NOW!!! It's the only way.

I dont work at the moment but many years ago I used work on the side as a building labourer, at the time I was saving up to buy a new bass guitar so I was skimping on everything in a bid to save up as much money as possible.

Some of the lunches I took into work provoked hysterical laughter from the blokes i worked with, all the lunches I took to work were from whatever was on the reduced price shelf in the local supermarket.
One day we all stopped work for dinner and all the blokes got there butties and potnoodles out, there was a silence as I opened the carrier bag containing my lunch, I looked up and they were all waiting in antisipation to see what wild and wacky food I had in the bag.
I opened the large plastic tupperware box and held it an angle so they could all see inside, there was immediate laughter and cries of 'You cant Eat that'
I couldnt understand what all the fuss was about I had two baby lettuces, a couple of carrotts, half a beetroot a small jar of olives and a packet of crushed scones. ;)

What a total knob-end! If he was still in your area, I would have gobbed in my sandwich stuff or like Mogden said, make something with laxative in it. Battery acid would probably going a little too far. Fridge theft is rife at my workplace so I keep my stuff in my bag.

I do know someone who pissed in an empty beer bottle in a night club as he was fed up with people nicking his beer when he went off to dance. He returned to the table a short time later to find the bottle gone! :D

Usually have a huge packed lunch, eat it all in the morning, and starve the rest of the day. :(
I used to have that problem because my old job was so far away from home that I often found myself having no time to eat breakfast. So I'd eat all of my lunch during my 15 minute morning break! Later on I'd be starving, and as a result I'd be tired, weak, irritable, and suffer from loss of concentration and motivation.

The worst was when I never got chance to make breakfast or make a packed lunch. There was nowhere to eat near my workplace and I'd end up buying biscuits and chocolate bars from the petrol station up the road because there were no sandwhiches without meat in.

Always take something from home. Have some leftovers from dinner or take a can of soup and a loaf of bread. Tend to spend about a fiver a week on lunch which is pretty good.

I do this too - we get 2 chickens for a tenner at the farmer's market. Doesn't it make you feel all thrifty and good? This week when making the stock I forgot there was a lemon in the chicken carcass and now I have very lemony stock. Not necessarily a bad thing, I made some into a nice sauce for pork yesterday.

Being off the refined carbs I don't make sandwiches, it's generally salad or soup.

Once or twice a week - I try to do it on lunchtime gym days. It's either tabbouleh (as is the case today) or a rocket/tuna/chilli/lemon pasta salad thing. Mmmm!

I don't cause I tend to eat it way too early then go out & get lunch as well :D :o
