Do you still like the records you liked as a kid?

When I was 9/10 I was well into 2-tone, with my harrington, tonics and loafers :D
I went to see The Specials the other week and they are still fantastic

So yep, still like

Muppets
Pinky and Perky
Goodies - Nothing To Do With Us
Slade - Old New Borrowed And Blue, Slayed

Yes to all!

e2a Terry Scott - My Brother

I still absolutely adore early UKG/speed garage (just 4/4 mind) circa 97-99 . . .

(basically london underground, freek fm, juice fm etc for those in the know)

The first LP i truly adored as a kid
was The Trojan Story triple LP on vinyl.
I played it until i wrecked it..My oldest
brother gave it to me when i was 11
and it introduced me to
Toots and the Maytals
Phyllis Dillon
Desmond Dekker
Laurel Aitken
Baba Brooks
The Pioneers
Alton Ellis
The Ethiopians
and so many more great Jamaican artists..
I adored it then and i love the songs even more so today.

Still like a whole load of stuff I did when I was 11/12/12 ie ska/punk and a bitr of oi. As I got older I graduated further back into 60's reggae and soul. First concert I ever went to was The Beat in 1981 last concert I went to was The Specials 2 weeks ago. :hmm:

I listened to Belinda Carlisle and Alvin and the Chipmonks as a kid :(
So no, thankfully I don't listen to those things any more.
Oh I also liked Snap! and Cathy Denise. :o

Some of them, yeah. I loved the Monkees, but my first records were pop records that I heard on the charts and bought from local shops a few weeks later (for some reason newsagents often used to have racks of singles in the late 80s, ex-jukebox records). Some of that stuff was awful, but on the other hand some I've still got cos it's quality. Later I got a taste for heavy metal and most of that was shite.

I've still got the first album I ever bought, Adam & The Ants' Kings Of The Wild Frontier from Ilford Oxfam.

 Yep the David Essex vinyl still gets blasted every so often.....how gorgeous did he look in this....:hmm:

Mrs.Griff worked on reception for Capital Radio in the early to mid '80s and David Essex asked her out. She politely declined. :D

 ....I probably badgered her for freebies.....we used to go to the Capital Foyer and get hessian shoulder bags for school....was the frequency 194 before it went FM...maybe not....also used to loiter outside alot and get glimpses of Graham Dene and Nicky horne...

I think I might not feel the same was about 5 Star, but I totally stand by Adam and the Ants, Beatles, Stones and Madness.

I'm talking under 12 here, I guess.

What are the parameters of 'kid'?

They changed. :) Originally I meant primary school age, but I was at secondary school (albeit only just) when "Two Little Boys" and "Sugar Sugar" came out.

I would have used a different word if I'd thought of one, I don't like "kid"particularly.

I've still got my first record 'my old mans a dustman'

You've just reminded me of "Right Said Fred" - not the band, which I also like, but the song by Bernard Cribbins;

"We was getting nowhere
and so
we
had a cup of tea."

I still laugh at that one.

Yes i still David Bowie, Blondie, Specials, Squeeze, Kraftwerk and many more. Not so keen on Olivia Newton John anymore though :hmm:

or David Soul :o
